Rugged, Reliable, Capable, Pretty
I have two of these cards in my PC. They work. They are reliable. Please note: These cards require a PCI-EXPRESS SLOT (V2.0 recommended) in which to be installed. That is the small PCI-slot that is 2.5cm in length. They will NOT fit into standard PCI-slots.After buying several different make of USB3 PCI-Express cards, I finally settled on the Inateck 4-Port version as opposed to the 2-Port one. Yes the 4-Port is dearer, but look at this way - the 2-Port card takes up the same space as the 4-Port and you lose out on two extra USB3 ports...Why the Inateck cards? Honestly? Being new to USB3, I had no personal preferences at the time, I just kept trying different makes of cards until I found a make that worked. They have worked for me with 64 bit versions of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. I have not tried other operating systems so cannot comment.Card Installation is easy -Just plug the card into a free PCI-Express slot, tighten up the fixing screw, connect the auxiliary power cable, and away you go.(You may need to adjust the backplate position slightly by slackening off the two card fixing screws then re-tightening them like I did to make the cards fit properly. This is not a problem with the cards, but is caused by the variance in computer case construction tolerances. I often have to "tweak" cards to make them fit properly in this computer case)Driver Installation -Win7 required the manual installation of a driver, but Win8 and 8.1 automatically installed the correct driver without any intervention from me.Pros -Are well madeHave external labels identifying each portThe card can connect to a SATA power connector directly, or via a SATA to Molex converter (a SATA 'Y'-cable Power-Splitter is also supplied)Supports XP/Vista/7/8/8.1 (32/64 bit)Up to 5Gbps data throughputUSB 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 Compatible (any combination)Cons -None to speak ofA non-reviewable and SELF-INFLICTED problem -I think I damaged the second card I bought when I was re-routing the motherboard power cables after installing a new video card. I had detached one of the leads off a 100uF power stabilisation capacitors (there is one for each USB socket). It was the furthest one away from the motherboard PCIe socket. It was now no longer vertical to the plane of USB card as it should be, but was tilted over by almost 45 degrees. This made that USB port inoperable. The other ports continued to work despite the damage to the other port.I could have returned it and said, "It was like it when it arrived", but I'm not like that. I also wanted to see how easy it was to repair and if this self-made-fault had caused any damage.I used a hot-air reflow/desoldering tool to remove the damaged capacitor and replaced it with an identically-specced capacitor.Put the card back in the computer and it was as good as new. What made me very happy was that the 'fault' had not blown any of the onboard SMT fuses. The conclusion I draw here is if it is "SusiProof", it must be well made! Conclusion -The Inateck USB3 cards are the only ones that I have found that work reliably for me. They are rugged, well-made, work reliably (despite me trying to break one), and are actually very pretty to look at (a gorgeous red colour).I have had no random disconnects or faults listed in the Windows System Event Viewer. They have worked well with any USB device I have plugged into them.If you want a decent add-on card to give your PC USB3 capability, this is the one for you.I was in no way paid or influenced to write this review. I bought these two cards from Amazon.co.uk using my own money.

Easy Peasy
As promised, this card arrived on Monday [a little late in the day, but these guys are busy] having ordered it the day before - last Sunday 2nd February 2014.Because it arrived in the evening I thought it best to leave installing it until the following morning; however, my wife reminded me of the early appointments I needed to attend and pointed out it was only 1800hrs or so, plenty of time to add a few "silly USB 3.0 thingies" before bedtime. Besides, she said, I was dead clever so it would not take long. Well, I am not really all that 'dead clever' and quite frankly, I was worried I would make a hash of fitting the card.As it turned out, including shutting down my PC and firing it up again after fitting the card took no more than 20 minutes. It was easy and because of the instruction booklet, I had no difficulty in understanding how to get the power to the unit. I installed the drivers from the supplied CD and bingo! I have four extra USB 30 slots on the rear of my tower. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and the card was recognized immediately. My concerns regarding the possibility I had purchased a card that was meant to be fitted to a USB 2.0 MOBO were unfounded. My MOBO is a Gigabyte-78LMT-USB 3.0 and the transfer speeds are phenomenal. The reason I was worried stems from an earlier experience with card reader unit for the front panel of one of my other PC's which also has a USB 3.0 MOBO [an Asus in this case] and the unit had four USB 3.0 slots as well as the card readers so I thought it a great buy; however, the description was not very clear - whenever are they? - and as a result, the USB 3.0 slots did not work at all, and still do not - worse, the card reader has given up the ghost too - all because it was not made clear that the unit was designed to be fitted to a USB 2.0 MOBO and the USB 3.0 slots whilst accepting USB 3.0 flash drives and external USB 3.0 hard drives was only intended to 'upgrade' At least, that is how I see it, perhaps someone has a different idea?In any event, the Inatek Superspeed 4 PCI-E x1 to USB 3.0 Expansion Card was easy peasy to fit and works wonderfully well - so far anyway, it has, after all, only been installed for a couple of days. If I do not add to this post, then you can assume it still is.

recomend download drivers from website and don't bother with cd
Purchased this so that I could connect a new usb3 external hard drive to my Win7 64bit pc.Packaging on the card was good and all items were as described and shown in the photo. When you remove the card from the packaging make a note of its colour as you will need this later to instal the driver.Fitting the card was difficult in my PC. I have two pci-e slots, one was covered by my graphics card and the other was close to it, so that i had to remove it to gain proper access. This is not a critique of the card but of my setup so make sure you have proper access before buying this (or any other card). Choice of power connectors was good so i had minimal difficulty in connecting it to my psu.Refitted my graphics card.I then switched the pc back on (new hardware not recognised) and installed the driver (although i had to check what colour it was - red). Installation software said driver installed ok, so checked devices in control panel, said driver not installed resource conflict. Manual said reboot after install, so did so - still had resource conflict.Googled Inatek and eventualy found replacement driver (site kept sending me to places to buy card rather than driver download, slightly frustraring, but got there eventualy). Went to devices and told it to update driver with one downloaded, worked no conflict. Connected usb3 drive, and up popped error cannot load usb hub driver. Pointed at location of new drivers, found and installed usb hub driver ok. Windows recognised my drive and assigned a letter.Am copying from a usb2 drive to my usb3 and am getting 25-27MB/s. Will see how fast i get later from my internal sata drives.

Upgrade for my old Macpro - Works Great
Although I have a newer up-to-date iMac I still do a lot of work on my 14-year-old Macpro because I prefer how some of the legacy software works. I did need to increase the speed for transferring files between the two and added a new external MyBook. This card is just what I needed. Easy to install and worked plug-n-play flawlessly without having to fuss with any drivers or other complications (yay Mac!). Even came with a tiny screwdriver to get it done.

Works Great for What I Need
Purchased this item to add USB ports to my computer as there were only a few USB 3 built in. This item added 5 ports and all run at a good speed as suggested in the write-up. Looking at getting a second one for an older computer that needs the USB 3.Would recommend, as it is working great for me.
