Home Made Lovely by Shannon Acheson is not your average home decor book. Shannon of course gives many great tips on decluttering and decorating your home, but she goes a step further and encourages you to “start where you are”. Whether you have your dream home or you are just starting out, no matter if you are renting or already a homeowner, Shannon gives you the inspiration to make your home your own, no matter your stage of life.I absolutely love “picture perfect” pins and posts on social media of immaculate homes, everything in its proper place, no dust bunnies to be seen, and no clutter messing up the view.Alas, but real life is so very different, isn’t it? Dust bunnies everywhere, stacks of books, magazines, mail on the kitchen table or office desk, and so many things out of place for one reason or another! Whew!Home Made Lovely is a beautiful book that contains decorating do’s and don’ts, decluttering tips and how-to’s, a few DIY projects, a handful of yummy looking recipes, and even an entire chapter on how to make your entire home have wonderful “curb appeal” (and not just in the front yard)!Shannon’s book is unlike any other because she adds a touch Biblical perspective to HML. Encouraging Bible verses for every area of your home, gentle reminders of what we are called to be and do as Christians, and that gentle encouragement that our homes, and ourselves, do not have to be perfect to be hospitable! (Not to worry- if Christianity isn’t you, you won’t feel overwhelmed by it as you read this book!)I am so thrilled to have this book in my collection and to be able to read back through it as we design our dream home for the future! Shannon has a style quiz on her website that will help you determine what your home “style” is and how to decorate for that! Mine was (not surprisingly) farmhouse style! Very accurate as I love all things farmhouse and desire to have a coordinating, easy flowing theme through my whole house!Pick up this book and be blessed! Find new life within your home and your heart as you put Shannon’s tips and ideas to work for you!!

Shannon's book is a must-read! She has a knack of breaking things down into teachable steps for anyone to understand and follow. She gives practical advice - great for the newbie decorator as well as the seasoned ones (like 75 budget decorating ideas). I especially loved her chapters on decluttering and "How to deal with what's "hot" and what's "not"" where she debunks a number of myths and encourages everyone to decorate in a way that suits their own decorating style (Shannon mentions 14 different decorating styles; I had no idea there were so many!). Something else I absolutely appreciated about Shannon's book is that she mentions where you can purchase items in the USA AND Canada (so helpful for us Canadians)! Her book is beautiful and its presence on my coffee table has sparked many conversations with friends and family. I highly recommend this work of art.

This book was a delightful surprise! With the intention of leaving it out as a coffee table book, in addition it’s a wonderful read. I honestly couldn’t put the book down! The chapters are incredible, the decorating tips and guides are so interesting and helpful even for the most confident designers and decorators!Aesthetically it’s beautiful on the coffee table with the cover. It came securely wrapped in plastic and there was no damage to the book whatsoever.I love reading a chapter or two and setting it down in the evening. I plan on purchasing additional books to give as gifts.You truly can judge a book by its cover! Awesome find!

The thing I like best about Home Made Lovely is that is lays out a very comprehensive plan that anyone can follow to improve their living space. I would definitely recommend this book. It’s a great resource
