It does the job
I'm down in Antigua on a boat and this solves my communication problem. I bought a local Digicel sim card to put in the sim slot and took out a plan to activate it. Now, all my use of the Glocalme goes through that sim card and not Glocalme's plan. When I go to another island (most in the Caribbean use Digicel), I'll just buy another local plan and continue to use it through the G3 Hotspot. If I go off the boat, I can take the device with me and still have communication. It really works well: no slowdown and just does its job.

Read the fine print about those 8GB
I'm looking for a mobile hotspot device to provide connectivity for my GPS, occasional Kindle updates, and minimal use of a Chromebook in my 18-wheeler. Several coworkers recommended the att device with 100GB for $55/mo, but that was more than I need for more than I wanted to pay. When I found the GlocalMe me that promised 1.1 GB international and 8 GB for North America free with purchase, I thought that's all I need.Well today I received the device and set it up, and discovered the 1.1 GB is only good for 5 years and the 8 GB is only good for 90 days. I was very disappointed and went back to check the fine print in the Amazon listing. It doesn't mention any limit on International, but it does say the 8 GB North American plan is only good for 30 days, so I got more than the listing mentioned, but less than I expected. It does have two sim card slots, so I can still use at&t or another carrier with it. You can use the virtual sim and buy plans from GlocalMe, but it looks like the cost per GB is about 3x the AT&T.

Glocal hotspots are big privacy concerns and useless outside the US
To use the product, US citizens are required to provide the passport details to Glocal website. This is unacceptable and a big privacy concern. I suspect a backdoor to track all activities and routing data to China. The product works occasionally and consumes a lot of bandwidth. The main purpose was to use it during overseas travel for secure work. It didn't work at the London airport/hotel, not in Germany, not in Bangalore/Mumbai (India). In India, a few times it did connect but switched to 3G and stopped connecting altogether after a few log ins. I prepaid for a large data package and most of it remain unused. Disappointing is an understatement. I won't recommend any Glocal hotspots for these reasons.

Great Device Great Selle
I bought the GlobalMe for a trip to Italy. It turns out that the villa I was staying in had some cell coverage, so I didn't really need it. However, the speed on the GlobalMe was faster than my mobile network, so I used up all the data I had purchase. The only draw back is that data is not cheap. Without doing much on a single device I could burn through 1GB in less than a day.
