A rare gem of a collection
The book contains three long stories by Mahasweta Devi.The best of the lot is 'Behind the bodice' which was also made into an art movie by name of 'Gangor'.It was also made as tv episode 'choli ke pechey' in Bengali by famous Bengali film maker Budhadev Das Gupta.

Pedantic translation
An overly pedantic translation of Mahasweta Devi with essays by Spivak of a highly academic, analytical nature. Consider buying this translation only if you have the need for such a contextualisation. Personally I prefer a more literary element in the translation and I’m slightly disappointed in this book — id already read another translation of one of the stories and can compare, I prefer the first.
