The Best!
I've been buying little disposable cat grass kits for a few years now and this one is far superior to the others. What I love most is that when the kitties eat the grass, they can't pull the container around or tip it over because of the wooden base. It's nice and sturdy. Kitties love the grasses. I paid between $1.99 and $3.99 for the disposable grass kits and they only lasted a few weeks at best. I bought this over a month ago and the grass is still growing strong, so it is a great value. I also bought some refills to save on shipping, and I'm glad I did. Out of 3 cats, only 1 doesn't eat the grass (at least not when I'm looking). Some people have mentioned that the seeds didn't sprout and it got moldy. I had no problems at all. You need to be sure to keep the seeds moist (a spray bottle works great) yet also be sure to empty any water left in the bottom so it doesn't sit in water. If you're dilligent the first few days, I think you will increase your chances of success. But I wonder if maybe the people who experienced mold might have started their kits during cooler weather...that could increase the chances of mold rather than germination. Be sure to put in a sunny or very bright window (warmer temps) right after planting. No doubt that I will be buying the refills for this for years. If you're worried that your kitty may not eat the grass, just buy a cheapie disposable one to test it out first...if he/she eats it, you will surely have a hit with the 4 grasses that come with this one!

Seeds Mixed
The seeds are not separated by type as anticipated based on the four quadrant design of the container. Otherwise, the product is good.

It worked for me!
Thought I'd give this herb garden kit a try, even though a few of the reviews were negative.I really thought that the wooden planter was nice in appearance.I liked the idea of the kit having 4 different types of herbs in the seed packet. Some of the reviews said that people had forgotten which herbs were planted where. To solve this problem I used a black permanent marker to show where each herb had been planted.Directions called for 3 oz. of water in each seed cup. Seemed like a lot of water, so after I planted the seeds, made sure to empty the excess water from the bottom plastic tray. Directions called for misting daily.I did not do this until soil felt dryer to the touch.Shoots began to poke through the soil about 2 days later and grew very quickly.Once the herbs began to grow, I started to mist daily. I watered very sparingly to keep mold from forming on the soil. Oats came up slightly brown in color but began to turn green as they grew. After 1 week the herb garden had grown to about 5 or 6 inches. I set the planter out for my 2 cats to enjoy, for about 2 hours each day. So far I haven't seen mold and the Kitties seem happy. Just try not to over water them.Glad I gave this kit a try. It's better than what I had used before. The wooden planter is very sturdy and well made. Hope you will give this kit a try also. Your cats are worth it! Good luck. ShiAdd on : Unfortunately after the plant had grown and been put out for the cats, about a week and a half later I noticed mold forming on the soil. There seems to be a very fine line between over watering and under watering. If you mist every day, which the herb grass seems to require, than it promotes mold. If you don't mist the grass gets whimpy and starts to die.I have 1 refill that I ordered at the time that I purchased the kit. I will plant that, but if I don't have better luck this time quite frankly I can't see myself ordering more refills at 5.61 each when the herb grass only last about a week and a half. I can save the planting trays and go to the local pet store and buy a pack of seeds and some potting soil for much less.

Two Stars
My cat doesn't like it, transferred grass to bigger pot, hopefully he enjoys more in time.

Had to do some modifications to the original design. I Love it now.
I purchased 2 in error and then realized I can't return the other one. OK this was my fault but I am disappointed so dropped my rating from 5 stars to 3.My complete review below is quite lengthy, so the end result is I recommend throwing away the pod system and growing it from the large tray that was provided. I increased my review from 3 stars to 4. I would have given it 5 stars if I had not had to figure out the problems myself.I love the base, cute, very sturdy and has high quality rubber stoppers. I am very confident neither of my cats will be able to push it off of the table as they have done with the plastic trays I have been using.I have now read the negative reviews and am concerned about the mold and bugs that were mentioned. I checked the pods the next day and found the dirt was too wet. I do well with growing plants so identified this as a potential problem. I lifted the pods and the drip pan had way too much water in it. I had followed the planting directions using a measuring spoon to ensure I put the correct amount of water. I would recommend checking the drip tray after watering to be sure there is no standing water. I have removed the pods from the tray and will keep it in my sink to see if the dirt will dry out a bit. I will be watching it closely for the bugs and mold that others have mentioned.2nd part review. The pods were still retaining too much water, I could see a little mold had started to grow and very little growth of the seeds. There were some strong roots that had sprouted from the bottom of the pods so I knew it was not a problem with the seeds. I decided to forgo the small pods and utilize the large square tray instead. I poked holes in the bottom of the large tray for drainage, wrapped a few large rubber bands around the ridge of the bottom of the tray to help with drainage (I used the 2nd large tray from the 2nd order that I had received, but assume the plant base would have been sufficient) . I removed the molding spots. I added some of my own potting soil (miracle grow) and placed the dirt pods into the large trays. I checked twice daily, added water as needed and removed any water that had drained into the bottom pan. After a couple of days, the seeds have sprouted beautifully with no mold, there are some brown strands of grass, I assumed the brown strands were not a different type of grass so plucked them out.I hope this helps.
