Nutritional miracle in a box!!
I found this food while searching for "best nutritional cat food available". It is the highest rated cat food for nutritional value and quality on several independent, unbiased pet food comparison websites. In fact, at the time of my searches it was the only food rated that received a perfect score. Its much more economical through Amazon than the pet food store (especially on auto delivery with free shipping). It averages about $1.19 per 5.5oz mixed - the usual size of adult cat food cans. One 4LB box [16LB of mixed food] lasts my small adult cat two months with a little to spare - buffer for my peace of mind. I mix it fresh each meal with room temperature water, and find the best ratio for her preferences is approximately 1:1 water to dehydrated food........We adopted a 12.5 year old female cat last summer who had just lost her beloved lifelong owner. She was not only sad and depressed, but quite traumatized by all of the changes that followed. She was obese, couldn't groom and had visible range of motion problems as well. According to her medical records, she'd been obese most of her life. She wouldn't eat when she came to live with us, and hadn't been properly eating for weeks beforehand I was told. I'd bought diet cat food in anticipation of her arrival. Zero nibbles. I put her usual food down. Not a bite, just a taste here and there. I tried the treats that she'd grown up craving and consuming, numerous designer foods from pet store, kibbles, and even freshly cooked meat. Nothing. She only ate about a thimble full of food each day. I was resigned to popping a senior cat vitamin down her throat daily for sustenance [Vetri-Science Senior Multivitamin available on Amazon. She still gets them daily - only now loves and looks forward to that 'treat' too!]. I knew whatever food she would consume had to be the best quality possible, and pack the best nutrients into each bite. At that point I didn't consider I'd find something she'd so obviously love and enjoy. To my surprise (and relief), the first time I put Honest Kitchen down she ate with abandon - as if it was the first food she'd ever tasted!! She's never looked back.* ........She's now vibrantly youthful, mobile and healthy**, her coat is sleek and shiny, she incessantly purrs, grooms, nestles with me, and all the other awesome things beloved cats do. And - she's lost at least 5 pounds! I never denied her food. She eats until satisfied. As she's become more serene, healthy, and eating normally the amount she wants always works out to be the exact recommended daily portion stated on the box for her ideal weight (I keep tabs!). She lost all of that weight merely by switching to this high quality, grainless food.*She gets picky, persnickety with this food every once in a while. I bought the Honest Chicken Whole Food Clusters as a 'treat' to bridge those times. (She LOVES them too!!!). I finally realized she only gets picky when she has a pending hairball. I think the clusters help with roughage. She always goes back to eating normally when they pass, and most of the time they pass naturally in her bowl movements. Much nicer than the kitchen floor option (for both of us it seems)!**She recently had her first vet exam under our care, approximately 6 months after becoming ours. A full panel of blood and fecal tests (the all inclusive testing) revealed her to be in pristine physical health. I sensed that even surprised her vet! This food didn't magically heal my beautiful cat's sorrow and depression last year - only time, love, and her indomitable spirit did that - but it has been an intrugal part of her healing, well-being and restored youthfulness. In my opinion, the basis upon which all other has grown. She truly has a new lease on life. The first picture I uploaded is her adoption photo - distraught, in mourning and weighing about 15.5lb. The second and third photos were taken only 6 months later!! She now weighs a very healthy 10.5lb, is spry, youthful, serene, engaged, in charge, and happily home!

The one time I didn’t read reviews before purchasing
I was looking forward to my 13 yr old shih tzu and my 15 yr old domestic shorthair this product. Both of them are having health related issues and have done well on homemade food the past six months. Other than the time to prepare and clean up, I have to make regular trips to the store for the meat, broth and veggies. So, I decided to try Honest Kitchen for my cat and my dog. I cooked up 4 lbs of chicken thighs (bones, skin included), then deboned and strained the cooking broth for the liquid. Mixed the HK per directions and added finely chopped chicken to their bowls. Neither one of them will touch it (my dog is a foodie so she eats everything… but not this). I’m going to modify the recipe to see if they will gradually accept it concealed in their standard homemade meals, but I may have just wasted my $$$.I will post an update if things change or if both boxes end up at the local shelter.

Cat loves it and no longer throws up!
We have tried several types of foods for our adopted adult cat which often resulted in regurgitation almost immediately after eating. The Honest Kitchen food seems to be just what we were looking for. He loves the taste and keeps it down. It's pretty convenient to rehydrate the food and we make a day's worth at a time.

Feed to Ferals
This is supposed to be mixed with water to make a pate but my ferals like it as soup. They don't always eat it, nor do my indoor cats, as they only want to taste it and not eat it as a full-on food. The taste just isn't what they want. But I do put it outside for the ferals daily.

Cats love
My cats love this food. so I have a subscription for it. The trick for this food is to add the amount of food you want then add warm water I add a little extra to it then whisks it together then let it sit for a few min. then I put it in the fridge for a few min. more, mine do not like it too warm just cool ,now it might thicken up more if that happens then you can add a little more water then whisk again to mix better. but if your cat likes it thick then you are good to go mine like it a little runny. I make a batch for a couple of day I use a glass bowl with a lid and it works great I have 3 cats and they all come running for this I feed them small amounts 2 time a day once in the morning and once in evening when I feed my dogs, also along with dry food for them of the same brand.

Smells good..
Our 19 year old cats do sooo well on this food and they love it! I grind it down more in a bullet blender for them since they seem to get bothered by the little chunks. They like it more creamy. No more vomiting! Our 12 year old likes it only sometimes. She prefers the Instinct brand "raw meal" dry food which I also grind down and blend a little in with this food for the senior cats. Also, if you have cats that vomit a lot or have pooping problems, Wholistic Digest for cats and dogs has changed our world with our pets.. mainly the seniors.. I recommend it to my clients, friends and family all the time and they have been so grateful for that product as well!

Formula change? Quality Control Issue?
My cats ate and loved this food for a year now. They'd scream for it, fight over it, best stuff in the world, huh? These last two boxes, they both have refused to touch it. I can mix in all of their favorite things, serve it different times and different ways, they will not touch it. The smell is different when I mix it, too. This is a non-returnable product, so you'll have to go through support to get a refund. Wasted my money on the first box, thought it was one bad batch and ordered a second. Big mistake! No clue what they've done but my boys will RUN when I try to put a bowl in front of them now. It's a shame as this was the most wallet and time friendly way to feed my toothless cat. Couldn't find a way to contact the seller, either. I'm feeding the chicken formula, not sure if it's worth the risk to try another flavor.
