Can't beat it.
Our living room is quite large (~10k cubic feet) and we live in a dry area. Two of Honeywell's largest evaporative humidifiers don't even make a dent in the dryness. I've run them all day and the humidity might go from 25% to 27%.This thing, however, is fantastic. Our humidity level went from 25% to 45% in less than two hours. It's super quiet although there is some water-dripping-type noise, but we find that pleasant. The area around the humidifier stays dry to the touch. It's also pretty compact considering it holds 5 gallons of water. Much smaller than I expected it to be.The only downside, if I had to search for one, is that the onboard humidity sensor isn't super useful. This isn't really the humidifier's fault, it's the nature of any humidifier that can pump out moisture quickly - they're always sitting in the most humid area, obviously, so the sensors will read much higher (30-40%+ higher in this case!) than the actual room humidity - especially in a big room. This isn't the fault of the product, it's just...physics. A remote humidity monitor would be necessary to avoid this, but I've not seen any of these that have one.One of our Honeywell humidifiers has a faulty sensor that always reads high, and since there's no setting that will just ignore the sensor and keep it running, it is constantly turning off. Fortunately on this ultrasonic one you can set the humidity limit to "--" which just keeps it on 100% of the time and avoids that problem. It would also be nice if it could remember the previous setting on power-up, so that it could be controlled via a smart outlet, but that's a minor nitpick.I will emphasize that using distilled, or RO, or de-ionized water, or otherwise TDS-free (aka 0 TDS) is a REQUIREMENT when using ultrasonic humidifiers, especially ones that will go through 5 gallons of water in half a day. Otherwise you will be generating ultrafine particulates that will not only create a haze in your house but aren't especially healthy for you or your electronics - which will eventually corrode from the combination of deposited salts/minerals + moisture. I use an RO system + de-ionizing filter to fill it. A larger deionizing filter (e.g. a 10" or 20" filter housing) would do the trick on its own and get you much faster fills - but it'll also get exhausted much quicker. Our water is pretty hard (13~15 gpg, about 250ppm) and running this on tap water makes our PM2.5 particulate count go from 2~4 ug/m^3 to over 500 ug/m^3 in a matter of 15 minutes. And it's very obvious, there's a thick haze permeating the entire space. Using the RO + DI system, the particulate count doesn't budge and stays right around the usual 2~4.This isn't the fault of the humidifier, it's just the nature of the technology. You must use TDS-free water! You can get a cheap TDS sensors for $10 that will do the job and give you an idea of your water suitability. The payoff for your trouble is that this thing works MUCH faster than evaporative coolers and you don't have to deal with mold/algae on evaporative wicks.Would definitely buy this again, fantastic product for a great price.

Broke after 9 weeks using only pure distilled water!
The humidifier worked ok at first -- It gives off a lot of fog! The humidistat on the machine reads too high relative to what the room humidistat says but I just set it higher to compensate. When it turns off & you turn back on, it doesn't remember the setting so it has to be set to the desired fog level & humidity level when that happens. These were just minor issues though.HOWEVER now the unit will not turn on after 9 weeks of use! I only used distilled water in the machine (I have a home distiller) so there is zero mineral build-up. The power button on the control panel simply doesn't respond anymore. I have two $30 humidifies that I have had for years that are still working just fine, but this $200 humidifier didn't even last 2 months (long enough to last past the return window though)!DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS MACHINE

This thing is serious
I purchased this humidifier for my large office to help it not be so dry during the winter. It doesn't quite do the job on its own, but I kind of figured that would be the case since we have tall ceilings, the area is probably over 3000 square feet, and we have very high HVAC turnover. It manages to raise the humidity by 2-5% on full blast though, which is honestly impressive given the conditions we are dealing with. One of these units will probably be enough to keep your average 2000 square foot home between 35-50% humidity at all times. Even on the highest mist output (there are 3 settings), it will run well over 24 hours before the tank needs to be refilled. This will not be an issue for most people as it will quickly reach the desired humidity level in a normal environment and cycle on and off instead of running constantly. It puts out a ridiculous amount of fog.The best thing about this humidifier is how much easier it is to clean vs other ultrasonic humidifiers I have used in the past. The bottom 2/3 of the unit is the water reservoir, essentially a rectangular bucket with some lockable caster wheels, which contains a small pump that pumps water into the upper chamber. The upper chamber only fills a few inches and there are four (!) ultrasonic membranes in there. Both sections are very open inside, no nooks or crannies so it's easy to wipe down when you refill it. The trunk is large enough to push a bottle brush through and clean. The unit is mostly silent while it's working. It tends to gurgle a bit when the tank level gets low, but it's sitting right next to me at my desk and it hasn't been loud enough to bother me.This may seem a bit pricey compared to a lot of other ultrasonic humidifiers, but it's definitely worth spending a bit more for the ease-of-use.

Wonderful for a greenhouse. Powerful humidifier!
I purchased this industrial strength humidifier for my grandmothers 1800 square-foot greenhouse. The perfect balance of humidity is essential for her plants to thrive. Her previous humidifier stopped working and this machine is the perfect replacement. She’s been using it for a couple of months and her plants are thriving wonderfully. The cabbage and lettuce especially. This machine is extremely easy to operate. It holds nearly 6 gallons of water at a time so she only has to fill it once every few days. The LCD screen is bright and easy to read. Also the touchscreen is fast responding. The remote control is very handy and has impressive range. She’s able to operate it from the other side of the greenhouse at times. It’s extremely lightweight and the wheels are especially helpful for her to move it over to the hose for a refill or to an area of her plants that may need a little more attention. Its powerful! It gives off a fog like nothing I’ve seen before. It has 3 intensity levels which has come in handy quite often; depending on how much humidification she thinks she needs.well worth the price. We look forward to many years of use~ extremely pleased!
