Equity: How to Design Organizations Where Everyone Thrives

Great and easy read that is courageously written
Mina Bopaiah does a phenomenal job elaborating on IDEA concepts and how to implement them. She not only discuses industry DEI concepts, but she also connects them to other subjects in a way that is understandable. She courageously unveils troubling practices and concisely brings everything together in such a short read. I highly recommend this book to people staring their equity journey as well as more experienced individuals who may need a quick reminder or validation of their work as it often leads to burnout. Bravo!

Please read this book; I think you will be glad you did.
I read this book by Minal Bopaiah several months ago and found it to be tremendously impactful. She found a way of looking at Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a fresh, frank and interesting way; I couldn't wait to read the next page. Though it is easy to speak about these issues in simplistic terms, she does not do so; with honest, everyday examples she is able to convey such important, old but fresh concepts. It's a lovely and thoughtful book; just writing this review reminds me to read it again! I would highly recommend it to anyone with an open heart and mind who wants to stretch and to live honestly and fairly.

Outstanding Read!
This is an outstanding book for anyone who is interested in diversity, equity and inclusion as a way of improving business functions and understanding the necessity of equity in that process. In this time of devisiveness and misunderstanding of the value of diversity, equity and inclusion, EQUITY provides the clarity necessary to operationalize the necessity of diversity, equity, and inclusion and appreciate that DEI is for everyone's benefit--Individuals, Businesses, and Institutions.

A must read for leaders everywhere
It just published last month and I've read through it at least 3 times and I can't stop coming back to it. It has felt like through all the variations of how we frame this field of work (D&I, DEI, JEDI, DEIB, DEIA, IDEA etc.) it is the "E for equity" that gets the dullest spotlight. Bopaiah has helped center and focus Equity for me and is super direct with the HOWs and WHATs around equity. I think it will be especially helpful for leaders who might be struggling to see what equitable should look like in their organizations. It is perfect for book clubs as it is digestible and a pretty quick read + the book has a discussion guide and glossary i the back.

Equity at the heart
Minal Bopaiah’s text is an excellent addition to any JEDIA bookshelf, from the expert practitioner to the person encountering these ideas for the first time. Coming from a Human-Centered Design Thinking approach in conjunction with leadership principles that center equity first, Bopaiah’s text uses anecdotes and facts to provide a necessary and timely introduction to building equity into an organization/system rather than using top-down decision-making that often leaves more problems than it solves. In only 176 pages, the text promotes a thoughtfully articulate view regarding equity as a space and place people can occupy within not just organizations but the world at large if we work hard enough to make it happen. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick but insightful read.

Minal Bopaiah makes an incredibly complex concept easy to understand - and enjoyable to learn about!
Minal Bopaiah is one of the most inclusive, thoughtful, and inspiring Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practitioners out there. It doesn't surprise me that she wrote a book that is both practical and thoughtful. Minal's passion for - and leadership around - equitable systems and structures started way before the summer of 2020. One of my favorite things about this book is that it makes an incredibly complex concept easy to understand. so readers can actually apply key learnings to their organization. Her writing style (and general personality) is authentic and witty. Simply put, Minal keeps it real, and this book is the real deal!

Not a Serious Book - About a Serious topic.
I see that I am the only negative review of 100, which is interesting. In that regard, I hope my thoughts are not seen as “resistance”.I agree with the author’s concept of equity, as a state worthy to fight for. I would get in fox hole and fight for such a cause with her, but I completely disagree with her approach.First, the focus is too much on differences as it relates to surface diversity, which has been proven in numerous studies of diverse groups to decrease performance, but when the focus is on deep diversity, people truly see the value of diversity as it relates to increasing both their performance and their wellbeing. It’s always about finding common ground 1st to unite people versus stoking divisions.Second, the concept of bias is so central to her book, yet the section on bias is very short and contains no peer reviewed research ( which is the same throughout the book). In addition, the author could have really helped her cause in the bias section of the book by humbly providing examples of her own biases, which are prevalent throughout the book. The author is a talented charismatic story teller and marketer that provides us with “one” interesting narrative, but it’s just a narrative…and narratives aren’t facts. There are many other lenses. Since I believe in her cause, I wish her success.

Honest and Helpfu
The book made some great points and helped in many ways to practically address issues that many companies are facing. I enjoyed the ability to bring solutions and new ideas to how to deal with DEI challenges, and give potential direction as we continue to build stringer teams and companies.
