Such a great album. Ronnie James Dio was arguably one of the best vocalists in the heavy metal genre and this album with Rainbow is one of his greatest works. Stargazer is my favorite all-time song that he sang in his storied career.

I gotta be honest my expectations were really low for this release due to it being a "Back to Black" release and the fact that it's a GZ vinyl pressing (Czech Republic). I usually avoid these releases at all costs. Their versions of Thin Lizzy really sound as though they were cut from a CD 16/44...the "Back On Black" versions are much better for Thin Lizzy and great for Nazareth, hopefully they will put out some more stock.This record on the other hand sounds great and absolutely sounds as though it was mastered for vinyl. I have an original Oyster/Thames pressing and what I can hear of it sounds good but it's either a really poor cut or a bad pressing with horrible sand papery IGD. There is a hint of IGD on the BtB pressing during "Do you close your eyes" but it's not a deal breaker as it never "explodes". No sibilance, no phantom distortions, flat and quiet vinyl with an eq that actually adds a low end to this recording. I'd say the vocals are a little sweeter on the original Oyster but the flaws it has render it pointless. Somebody at Polydor actually gave up a good tape and GZ must really like Rainbow/Dio to put some effort into the cut and that means I will absolutely be picking up Long Live Rock and Roll as well. I hope it's as good or better.

Rising is no doubt one of the greatest rock records you will ever hear. Glad to have got a copy of this LP, the sound is fantastic. You may have to equalize for a more vivid low frequency though.Perhaps as teenager did not pay too much attention to the details in the music, but this vinyl truly do justice to Rainbow and especially Dio's extraordinary talent.Hope one day, maybe for its 50th anniversary? they will release a high resolution audio and surround mix of this jewel.

It's Ronnie James. Do not give this any less than 5 stars or parachuting dogs with bees that shoot out of their mouth come crashing through your living room window. I learned this lesson in a previous life.

Best heavy metal/ rock album I've ever heard...just listen to it...if you don't get it, rock is not for you...lol

I've always listened to this album on cd.This vinyl is a really great sounding record, and in stereo to which sounds amazing, as I have a stereo set up, my amp is 50 years old, older than me by quite a few years.This album sounds amazing on vinyl, Especially Stereo sound, so wonderful and so much better by far than cd, or any other way of listening to this album.This is a must buy vinyl.
