I use these in the garage when I'm changing my car's oil (and other work in the oil & grease family of chores) to keep my floors clean. Oil (as you may know) will not easily clean from a concrete floor, and requires a poultice for proper stain removal. DIRTY and USED oil has the secondary problem of carrying dirt and contaminants into the concrete as well. The best solution is to not get the oil on the floor to begin with.These pads will not prevent a major spill of oil from leaking down to the concrete, but drips and minor spills are well absorbed, especially if you double-up and place two pads under your work area. They are effective at wicking any and all petrochemicals, but thinner petroleum based products (such as brake cleaner) will work its way through the pad to the underlying concrete. (Although these chemicals usually don't cause much staining.) Even if some dirty oil does penetrate the pad (ie, you've had a major spill), the pad will fully trap the *dirt*, passing only the *oil*, making later stain removal (using a poultice) that much easier.Essentially, now, when I'm doing any kind of work that involves automotive maintenance chemicals, I put down a couple of these pads first, and my garage is much cleaner, and I have less clean-up to worry about. They make me happy.

I love them. We spend a lot of time on our boat and these are so reasonably priced I can change them regularly. They are very absorbent. I like the perforations - means I can easily only use half when required.

i had some oil get in my pool by an accidental spill. it was a disgusting mess and the pad assisted with the clean up just fine. along with super shock and fall out.

These pads are very thin compared to other heavy duty pads. They are made from the same material, but soak up less oil.
