Change my life!
I have many friends who have been on the "gluten-free" kick for a few years. Many of which have done it to lose weight or just to be cool. I would look at the recipes they post on Facebook or Pinterest and think yuck, so much crap and so much sugar that I was really turned off. I would pick up gluten-free products in the stores and read all the ingredients and also be turned off by the crap put in those baked goods. Sugar, salt and processed crap. I was chalking up this gluten-free thing as a fad because I couldn't see any health benefits in it at all unless you were a Celiac and being gluten-free is a life or death choice. Then I went on a cleanse. It was dairy, alcohol, caffeine, soy, wheat, etc, etc -free. I felt awesome. At the end of day 5 of my cleanse I read The Wheat Belly Cookbook cover to cover. It made so much sense. I was able to attribute everything I was feeling to everything I read in the book. I was also relieved to learn all of my doubts about the gluten-free crap I was seeing in the stores was right. I learned so much about my body and my health. I probably wouldn't have been able to identify and attribute so much to what I read personally except I was doing a cleanse at that time.I never read the Wheat Belly Book but felt that the introduction to the Wheat Belly Cookbook MORE than covers all the facts and information supporting Dr Davis's theories. Only some people are gluten intolerant or Celiac. Most people are wheat intolerant and don't even know it. Wheat pre-1960's is way different than the wheat we eat today. I am glad I followed other Amazon reviews about the Wheat Belly Book and just bought this one instead as you get all the information from the book PLUS a bunch of great recipes to get you started. So save your money and just buy the Wheat Belly Cookbook.I am an excellent cook so cooking wheat-free was already easy for me because I am good at substituting for healthier options but I was really missing baked goods. This cookbook really helped me bake what I was missing. I also recently purchased "The Joy of Gluten-Free, Sugar-Free Baking" by Peter Reinhart and Denene Wallace. The recipes and concepts follow the Wheat Belly theories completely and it was a great purchase. It was hard to find additional baking cookbooks that didn't include rice flour, potato and tapioca starches loaded with sugar but this one was worth every penny.I have now been wheat-free for exactly a month and I feel fantastic. I can now bake and make the foods I have just been omitting from my diet. I have lost 8 pounds and lots of inches (I forgot to measure but my clothes are looser). I have way more energy and it doesn't take me forever to get out of my morning brain fog. I am never hungry between meals and when I get hungry it comes on slowly so I can make a good meal without rushing to make something because I am starving and need food NOW. I also don't have any cravings. I don't crave the salty snacks I love (I should say loved). No crashes of absolute starvation which usually means I will eat something bad (bread, chips, cheezies, pasta, crackers). I have been getting lots of compliments too. 8 pounds isn't a lot but in general I look a lot healthier and I guess it shows!!!!!I am looking forward to my continued health and nutrition journey. This is one of the few books which I will say that has made a very strong and positive impact on my life. It's all about finding the right balance and making the right choices but that all comes from continued research and I am grateful I picked up and read this book at the right time in my life to make the biggest impact.

A wonderful informative guide to living wheat free!
The Wheat Belly cookbook consists of a brief overview of the book Wheat Belly, plus 150 recipes to help you on your way to a wheat free diet.In 2011 I was diagnosed with a slow moving form of incurable leukemia. One of the first things I did was to eliminate all gluten and wheat from my diet, along with all processed foods. I immediately felt better, lighter, more energetic...as if the lights were coming back on inside my body.Within just a couple of months I had lost the 30 extra pounds I had been carrying around with me for the past several years, my brain fog disappeared, my skin started to glow, my hair responded by trading in its dull texture for shine and health. The transition was nearly miraculous.I still have leukemia, but I am living now, instead of barely surviving. And while it has not gone into spontaneous remission, it has stalled instead of continuing to move forward in severity as it should have done.I would say that this book could easily work as a stand alone. All of the important information from Wheat Belly can be found here, plus the recipes to get you going. If you are tired of feeling sick and tired but cannot find the reason, tired of paying for physician visits when they continue to tell you there is nothing wrong, or tired of living unwell with a chronic illness, weight gain, or autoimmune disease, this book is for you.Prepare to be outraged by the facts. We are being fed a line of bull when it comes to what we should be putting into our bodies. The food pyramid is backwards, inside out, and upside down. The author contends that wheat, which he terms a "Frankengrain" due to the fact that it has been modified beyond recognition, is not the wholesome food it is portrayed to be. On the contrary, the protein found in this wheat has properties that are addictive, keeping us coming back for more..and more...and more...to an excess that shows up on our waistlines and in our bodies overall health, and worse it is found in nearly every food on the grocery store shelves. The author explains how our expensive medical maladies such as "...hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, arthritis, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, depression, diabetes, various forms of neurological impairment, and on and on..." is caused by wheat consumption.Better than all of the information though are the recipes. Even a bakery section which provides instruction for creating things like brownies and chocolate chip cookies that are wheat free, sugar free and are really really tasty! The Wheat Belly Cookbook is really all you need to understand the why and the how of living wheat free.

Great cook book to compliment the wheat belly diet.
This cook book gives a summary of the wheat belly book. It has recipes for all meals of the day and testimonies of people who have lost weight and a fast variety of health issues. I found them very encouraging especially in the beginning when I did not have much energy, to keep going. It is American and some recipe names, utenils and ingredients I have had to google as I did not know what they were. I purchased some meassuring cups as the recipes are all done in cups. This was new to me but I now find it much easier than using scales in fact my scales are collecting dust in a cupboard. I am not sure if this book is good for a complete novice but having said that the recipes are very easy to follow and am using recipes and adapting them easily and successfully. I found it tricky to get my head round using alternatives to wheat flower but once you start it is far less complicated than when you first read the recipe. There are some pictures in the book but if you are looking for a glossy cookery book this is not for you. If however you want to loose weight, have health isues and or have food intollerances in your family this is a great book!I lost 12 kg in under a month and still loosing between 1-3 kg per week. ( I did not start out to loose weight but it was a very welcome bonus!) My sweet tooth has disappeared which makes it the easiest diet to stick to as I have never been able to stick to diets thinking I had no will power, now I know differently! I gained enough energy and more to match my 3 pre-schoolers and many other health and life styleimprovements. In fact last week when I took my brood to the park they asked me if we could go home yet! Cannot recommend this book enough!
