Wm. Smith & Son Assorted Steel Sailmaker's Needles #14-18: 20 Pack

These are serious needles. Sharp as $%&* and heavy duty. The size variance is good, with some big enough for sails and a few small enough for everyday pants/shirt repairs. The mirror-polished triangle tip glides right through any fabric I've tried, and they're sturdy enough to use as a leverage when you need something thin and sharp. I never knew sewing needles could be this nice.

Yes, high quality needles made from good steel. One needle was defective though. Cannot bend it or break with two fingers unlike other brands claiming to be of good quality

Perfect.I worked as a sailmaker for fifteen years, these are the needles I used for hand work back then and the quality has not diminished.I couldn't imagine better needles for seizing, whipping or leather work.

The needles are first class, without a doubt. However, in my pack I was missing 2 of #14, 1 of #15 and 1 #16. This assumes that with 290 needles and 5 sizes one should receive 4 of each size. This is disappointing and since I have only order this once, I am not sure if this is a wider issue. If it were not for this issue, it would be a five star product.
