This shield works great! If you have a big batch of dough this keeps it from climbing up the dough hook and making a mess of the attachment area. I've been very happy with this product. For some years now, I've made a specific bread recipe almost weekly that yields three loaves. Since I started using a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, I've had to split the recipe in half and make my bread in two batches, combining the dough from each batch in a separate bowl. This dough hook shield has eliminated that need and has significantly cut down on time spent making my bread.The only reason I'm giving this 4/5 stars is that the edges are a little sharp. I've long been in the habit of quickly reaching a finger into the mixing bowl as necessary while the hook is moving to unstick dough that clings to the side. I quickly discovered that the edge was sharp enough to cut my finger with a little pressure. Ouch. It didn't cut too deeply, but it was enough to draw blood. Not a huge deal, but it surely wouldn't be too difficult for the manufacturer to fix this issue.

Amazing! I read many, mixed reviews, but with my Kitchenaid classic mixer’s dough hook, it is easy to put on, and to remove after it beats up my dough for me. I loathe the dreaded “dough creep” that seems to happen with sticky dough. I’m not sure what other users were talking about, as I was able to easily apply it to the hook and after using it found it easy to remove.

It does work great. It clips on very well but it is hard to get it on. It does keep the dough from going up past the dough hook. I like that aspect.
