Sin & Chocolate (Demigods of San Francisco)

Ok, a lot of just talking
I have to go 3 stars on this one, I sooooo wanted it to be 5 but here are my issues. First, anytime there are teens in a story, I know that half the book will be the dialogue between the adult and them. Second, there was an action, I feel like it didn’t really go anywhere. Third, I’m getting tired of these trilogies that you have to pay $3-4 dollars for each when it could have been summed up in 1-2 books. I do like the concept and and the story plot.

Beating around the bush
There is so much filler in this book, that an edited version with only the relevant scenes, would only come up to 30% of the actual book. But at least I would have savoured those 30% and not gotten bored. The secondary characters are actually sharper than the main ones.

Another brilliant new series from the fabulous Ms Breene
If you're a fan of K.F. Breene, this is cracking start to a new series set in San Fransico, proving once again why she's one of my favourites for supernatural romance. This one was a little slow to start, but it needed to be as the characters and story line were set up. I was sucked in straight away. Characteristically of K.F. Breene, there's a witty, feisty heroine with a heart of gold whose path crosses with a gorgeous alpha hero, making sparks fly.Alexis is a poor, unlucky individual who can talk to spirits that haven't passed into the next world. She is barely making ends meet, using the money she earns in her dead end job to support her two wards that she rescued from their own hard lives. She lives under the radar to both keep them from danger as well as keep on the down low in their dual community (both magical and non-magical citizens). A chance encounter has her cross paths with the hotter than hell itself Kieran, a demigod with his own troubled path and a desire for vengeance. I would have liked a bit more dialogue and contact between Alexis and Kieran, but there was a lot of foundation work set up in this book, so I'm hoping there's more in the next installment. The secondary characters were great, too, especially Kieran's Six.This series focuses on the use of magic and its various forms. Alexis doesn't know the full extent of her magic, but Kieran senses straight away that she's on the high end of the power scale and her particular gift of communicating with the dead is exactly what Kieran needs as he tries to help his recently deceased mother. Here they clash, as Alexis desperately wants to stay off the grid, doing what she can to survive living on the lowest rung of society, even if it means taking hand outs from others and using her street smarts to get by.No one does supernatural romance like K.F. Breene. You don't need to have read any other of her books to start this series (but you should!!!) She creates a new world you're immediately dragged into, rooting for all the main characters. I love her work and can't wait for the next book.

Disappointed
Book is not what I expected, no romance just a bunch of jumping around with dead people, no passion, could not appreciate it.

Loved this story.
Wow! What an amazing story.💖💖💖💖💖The S&C story was perfect. I love meeting so many new characters and seeing a new world unfold within the pages. The author built the world up with the perfect amount of details so that you get a pretty good picture of everything but she still left enough unsaid so that the reader is surprised in the next book. This is a unique, original story unlike any I've read before. I'm especially fond of the obstacle course scene. (I think it might be fun to try that some time.)😍😊😉🤫🤭I love how sassy and confident Alexis acts at times only to reveal that she is actually shaking in her boots, so-to-speak. Kieran is the quintessential Demigod, all forbidden and sexy, dangerous and full of ego. A match made is Heaven.👩❤️💋👨👩❤️💋👨👩❤️💋👨👩❤️💋👨👩❤️💋👨I like the kids, sassy, foul-mouthed Daisy and sweet but fierce Mordecai. Plus, who could forget Kierna's Six. All that muscle in one place is enough to melt any girls panties.🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤My favorite part was all the weird, unique one-liners that the author uses (i.e. Mother-trucker biscuit f%&$#%, just to name one of the many) that had me cracking up. I'm going to be adopting some of them. (Thank you to the author for extending my vocabulary.)🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Want to know what I'm talking about? Then make sure you purchase a copy of Sin & Chocolate by K.F. Breene.💰💰📗📗☑️✅I'm completely hooked on this series and this is just the beginning. I can't wait to read more.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Not worth the struggle
I couldn't even finish and I honestly don't know the last time it happened. It felt like a dfurggle to turn the page and I couldn't find myself liking any of the characters especially Alexis. She was plain horrible and I could not get on board the bandwagon to care what happened. I feel bad about this review because I've never written one before and it had to be about this book because it was a mistake to buy.

Sexy, Emotive, Nerve Wracking & Completely Unmissable!!👻💪🌊✨👑
Wow, This Is A Powerful & Spirited 4.5 Star Read!! 🌟🍀Ok, so we have 'sort of' single Mum Alexis. She is magical although due to its type she doesn't like using it, she sees ghosts and can help them cross over!😳 Her Mum always taught her to hide as much about herself & her magic as possible, so she did and it has become a habit to hide in the cracks between the magical & human communities. She is the Guardian to two teens - Mordecai & Daisy. He is an orphaned Shifter who has an illness caused by his shifter genes. His medication is expensive but they manage to just scrape enough money together for it every month. He's getting worse though, his pain seems to seep through his eyes no matter how much he tries to hide it plus his cough, it was so bad!😢 Daisy is Human, no magic at all but survival is a life lesson she shouldn't need to know at 14 yrs old. Her Mother was a junkie who had died of an overdose when she was a toddler so she'd survived in 'the system' until Alexis saved her aged 10. Daisy has seen far too much but thankfully it was only seen!! These three are completely dysfunctional but they'll be loyal to each other with their last breaths, they all love each other deeply & unconditionally, they're Family and they'd chosen each other!!🙏💙💕Kieran is a Demigod, he's Sinfully sexy, as Alpha A-Hole as you can get, yet with his face & body most would let it slide. He's clearly not heard the word 'no' often 😂 He loves Guinness, smells of the rolling sea and sometimes his his Irish accent burrs through his deep, sultry scraped voice 😜😎 Alexis hasn't a single clue who's path she's just walked into and if she did she'd probably run crying!!😳 Kieran is on mission when he 'bump's' into Alexis. His crew, his six most loyal & closest friends and colleagues, are hunting for someone to help his Mother! She's in dire straits & so far no one has been of use - then he reads Alexis magic and - Let the 'not stalking' stalking commence!!😳😂This book was a complete delight. You know going in that you'll have some fun with K.F Breene when she's writing in this genre, what I had forgotten was that she can gut punch you in the feels department so you're choking on your own sobs too!!😱😭 Seriously, I know I'm overly emotional due to hormones, but was that really necessary? 😳🙈 LolI was kept on the edge of my seat by the will they/won't they? Because, my God, Kieran & Alexis are smoking hot together 🚬🔥 I'd like to get to see more of Kieran & the #SexySix interacting normally, like at the pool 😋 *sigh* Only because they all seemed much more relaxed of course 😎 Being half naked has nothing to do with it, Sheesh 😇 I loved that entire scene 💙💕 The frog splat ... That's totally what happens to normal people, well me 🙈😂 Hysterically funny 😂 Hours later, as I'm writing my review, I realised I've randomly giggled all day today and it's because either another scene or snark filled comment flew through my head 😊😂 Now that really impressed me as my memory is notoriously bad!!👍I need to give a special mention to Mordecai and Daisy because they really kept this book humble in the best of ways! They are both beautifully strong and undoubtedly broken but from their broken places, with each other's help, support & love they've both become stronger, more resilient and are ready to take on their world along side Alexis. It's her that gave them their safety, that first glimpse of unconditional love and guidance!🙏💙💕🍀 #LOTR #SiblingLove #FamilyThere is so much in this story, I can't wait for more to find out what's next! 😊 All of the spiritual stuff through Alexis was completely gripping! The big reveal at the end - 💥 that was my mind blowing up 😳The pacing, world building & characters are so spot on, it was almost as though I'd been there before but I havent, this is brand new and you could feel that freshness too!! It's not a DDVN book, it's not a Darkness book it's a Demigod of San Francisco book, Book 1 and it's thrilling so grab wine for Sin & chocolate for .. Yep, Enjoy because I know I did 😀🎉 🍷+ 🍫Debbie, 1970, UK

Amazing series
I love this series and here’s why:1) the writing is witty2) the characters are well developed with personalities that really shine with individuality3)the world building is good - I’m not saying great because I’ve read some fantasy that had more interesting setting in terms of fictional worlds4)the plot is well developed and not only pushes the story forward but actually helps to highlight the characters growth5) the romance is very well blended within the plot and it is not the plot itselfI bet I can find some other stuff to add to the list but those 5 are usually enough to make me pick up a book so I hope this review convinces someone to give it a try too.

Sinfully Good!
Ok. So initially I thought, not as good as “Magical Midlife Madness”. A bit slower to get into and not as humorous! But once I got further into this and put the Midlife books out of my head, I really started to enjoy this and engage with the characters. I love a feisty female and Alexis is that! Willing to do anything to save her family and do the right thing by them. I liked the way she handled Kieran, her sarcastic humour and the way their chemistry developed. And what I also liked about this book is the way that sex doesn’t affect the story. The romance is there but it’s not open and graphic. Nothing detracts from the story. So for me this is a definite winner. Onto book 2 to see how Kieran and Alexis get along!

Couldn't put it down
I love this new series. I love the characters, the world and the magic. Breene has a talent for writing believable relationships and not just of the romantic kind. Watching loyalties cement, friendships bloom and characters grow is just part of the reason to invest your time and energy into any one of her series, and the ‘Demigods of San Francisco’ is no exception.Alexis is just trying to survive in the cracks of society but she’s not doing it alone as she has two wards to look after as well. She’s an extraordinary woman in a very bad situation and when the Kieran finds her, he’s able to see to the heart of her; even if it does take him a while to understand her. In book one, we get to follow Alexis’ journey into the world of magic, something she’s been avoiding all her life. She’ll learn just what she’s capable of, even if she’s unable to reach those heights just yet. As for Keiran, we get a glimpse of who he is and who could potentially be, both good and bad. His heritage will play a part but he’s more self-aware than most and willing to do what he takes to be the kind of man he wants to be. As the series continues, I have no doubt you’ll fall in love with him, if you didn’t love him from the start that is. As always there’s a host of side characters to keep things interesting and a crazily well thought out plot that will keep you reading way past your bed time. ‘Sin & Chocolate’ is an amazing start to the series and it’s a book I thoroughly recommend to anyone with a love of paranormal romance. Enjoy!

Loved it!
Another great start to a new series. I have read almost all of this author’s books and this is my favourite so far, and that’s saying a lot! Alexis is such a sassy, feisty and powerful character with a heart of gold as she struggles daily making ends meet whilst looking after her two wards Mordecai and Daisy. Alexis is very powerful but keeps it hidden as she has been taught do so by her late mother. The book has a fantastic storyline that draws you in from the very beginning. As usual, there are some really funny parts, especially Alexis trying to be the ‘adult’ in the relationship with Mordecai and Daisy when most of the time they are looking after her! I love her relationship with Kieran and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book, it can’t come soon enough 😉. Highly recommended if you enjoy amazing (not to mention hot!) characters, amazing storylines and laugh out loud moments.
