Good replacement option for my 2018 BMW R1200RT motorcycle
NOCO Lithium NLP14 Battery Review for 2018 BMW R1200RTAfter six years of good performance, the OEM battery in my 2018 BMW R1200RT started showing signs of aging and finally left me stranded in the parking lot of a local hardware store ... better there certainly than 1,000 miles away in the middle of a ride to nowhere.I don’t shop for batteries very often and didn’t want to spend a lot of time making this decision either. Somewhat surprising, battery specifications are inconsistent between manufacturers and borderline misleading. But I finally read a compelling review on Amazon by someone with a similar application and based on his recommendation purchased the NOCO Lithium NLP14.After a short YouTube how-to education on the battery replacement process, I removed the lower right fairing, unsnapped the covers over the battery compartment and swapped out the batteries in less than an hour. The NOCO battery came fully charged. I wasn’t completely certain I should use my standard battery trickle charger or not, but my current charger is a bit old so that helped me resolve that issue so I also purchased a new NOCO charger for lithium batteries. If I was a younger and more patient man, I’d likely spend more time researching the options but overall the NOCO NLP14 seems to be a great replacement battery. I like the weight reduction and small size of the lithium batteries, and performance of this model appears to be much better that stock. Total replacement cost is also quite a bit less expensive than the local dealer. My experience with NOCO products in general has been excellent so my expectations for this battery are high. All good, highly recommend.

Cheaper Lithium option but works well
I read a lot of reviews and it seemed that most people have not used a lithium battery before on their motorcycle so wanted to share my opinion as I have used various Lithium batteries and was seeking an alternate "affordable" option for my 2017 Kawasaki Z900. I currently have a Shorai on my R1, which never gives me any issues and holds charge for months, but you have to top off with a LITHIUM type of charge. (I have several but Battery tender+ sells one that does both lead/AGM and Lithium at an affordable price.) If you know Shorai, those batteries are double or more compared to this NOCO battery. The battery in my Z900 was likely the original which lasted quite a while, it was a Yuasa and it had the Kawasaki label on the back. As you can see in the picture, it seemed to still have enough crank fully charged at 119A, close to the 136A rating but it does not hold charge well anymore. My NOCO battery came pretty full, I topped off with my Lithium charger and the reading on my OBDII Battery tester read 274A (see pic), that is quite significant compared to OEM. I tested the bike and the cranks very smooth and powerful. I have yet to do a long term test but will hopefully share any new info about the battery and see how long it may hold charge if not used.

Dead Within Two Months
I purchased a NOCO Lithium NLP14, Group 14, 500A Lithium LiFePO4 Motorcycle Battery on Feb 3, 2025.This battery has not really even been used (the motorcycle has only been started a couple of time, not ridden, and stored in my garage).I went to power up bike today and it is COMPLETELY dead. A Lithium ion battery charger would not even recognize the battery. The reasons for buying a Lithium battery is 1) lightweight and 2) very low self discharge while charging. This battery is horrible. I have never had a motorcycle battery last two months. I am glad the bike was only in my garage and not out riding.Quality obviously is not present. I will wait and see how NoCo responds and if a replacement is better. I might be going back to a normal battery or a better brand.

Works for Arctic Cat snowmobiles even though NOCO said they don't have exact replacement.
So when trying to cross reference the YTX20H-BS - NOCO chat says they do not have a match for my battery needs. The big difference with the battery on my snowmobile is the positive is on the left and the negative is on the right side. When you look at the other NOCO powersports batteries, the positive is on the right and negative on the left; except for the NPL14 battery. I bought this one as it has more than enough CCA to turn over my sled engine. The package comes with multiple spacers to raise the battery up to make it similar in size to the stock battery. The NPL14 fit amazing, hooked up great, and turns my sled over and starts faster than the other AGM battery, and weighs 1/3 of the stock AGM. Great battery - I wish that NOCO would do a bit more research and see what would fit and help customers out more than just say they don't have a direct replacement. This battery is 500 amps of starting power so more than I need - Looking forward to the 5 year warranty period as well. Thanks NOCO.

Good when it works, make sure it fits
I bought this for my 2006 Suzuki C90T. I liked the idea of a light battery with more cranking amps. When I got it I was surprised at how light it really was. It is much smaller than the lead based battery I was replacing and it came with several spacers to make sure that it would fit correctly. I put the batteries side by side until they were the same height and then put the battery in. It was a simple installation taking less than 10 minutes. The cranking amps are impressive and the bike starts quickly every time. Overall I think it's a great purchase for the summer season. One drawback I have found is that it really doesn't like the cold at all so if you're not going to be riding for a little or if the night temps are going to go down a bit, make sure you have it plugged into a battery tender. I have come out a couple of times in the morning to head to work only to find that the battery has no juice at all. I am able to plug it in and it will charge within a few hours which is nice. It does mean I can't ride to work. I wish there was some way to make sure the battery always had enough juice to crank, even when it's a little colder.
