Great to use with a silicone bib on top; mold can be removed with Oxiclean
UPDATE: The company instructs users to shake out the food and wipe the bib with a damp, soapy sponge, but we are short on both space and time. It's difficult to shake the food out without it flying everywhere, and we don't have the counter space to wipe down the bib. This also takes a lot of time when there's a lot of food mashed into the fabric. Since we live in a very dry climate, we thought we'd hose it down and hang it to dry in the sun. Over time, mold grew on the chest portion of the bibs. An overnight soak in Oxiclean got rid of the mold, and I'm so glad because I figured out a way to use these bibs to minimize the mess and avoid mold too. Before, we would place an absorbent bib under the Bib-On to catch dribbled water because the neck fell pretty low, even on the tightest velcro setting. Now we put on the Bib-On first, then top with a silicone bib. The silicone bib keeps the top part of the Bib-On dry and prevents mold, and it catches most of the food that would have been on the floor. The Bib-On pockets don't catch food, even when used alone, but it has always been great for protecting baby's clothes from food, especially his sides and lap. The silicone bib alone can't do that, but using the two together is fantastic. I don't even need to wipe down the Bib-On, and it stays dry. I'm giving it 5 stars after all--it's not perfect, but it is part of a great system, and there isn't anything else like it that I've seen (and I've searched a lot!). As long as it's possible to get rid of mold (in case it makes an appearance), I'm a happy camper. The company is also wonderfully responsive. To be fair, I was not following their directions for cleaning, and they still contacted me when they saw my negative review and sought to resolve the issue. I did not respond because I figured out a solution, but I'm sure they would have provided great service.PREVIOUS REVIEW:I thought these bibs were THE answer to feeding my messy, self-fed baby. We have 3--one for each meal--and we hose them off outside and leave them to dry in the sun after each use (we live in a hot, dry climate). We machine wash in hot water once or twice a week, and mold still grew. I don't know how to kill the mold without damaging the fabric, but might try bleach in the end, since I can't allow my baby to use a moldy bib anyway. So disappointed, as this was the perfect solution otherwise!

The BEST for Kids with Special Needs
We LOVE the XL Bib-On aprons!! My son is 7 and has special needs. He still eats mostly finger foods but is working with and adapted fork and spoon ... he is NOT a clean eater!! These aprons have saved countless items of clothing and loads of laundry ... LOVE THEM!!!

Plenty big enough
My 4 year old daughter broke her elbow and is in a cast for at least 6 weeks. Not wanting her to dribble food and spill drinks all over her cast, I ordered this bib for her. It's plenty big enough and the velcro is handy. I can see her using this post-broken elbow for painting and other "dirty" activities.

Nice full apron.
My daughter loves to put this on when it’s time to eat her soup. She loves nothing more then to eat soup. The problem was, she gets it all over herself. This has solved that problem. Some of the soup slides right off the other soaks into this apron making it wet. Her cloths still stay dry.

Couldn’t be without it!
I have many of these bibs. They are easy to rinse or wash. They don’t have any chemical smell. They are sturdy and cover my granddaughter well. I now use the extra large version of this bib. I call it my granddaughter’s apron. Don’t hesitate to buy this bib, its awesome.

The best bib there is!
A correction on sizing. These work for ages 2 to 3 1/2, maybe 4.I have been a childcare provider for 20 years. I LOVE these bibs! These are great for mealtime! They are also wonderful for arts and crafts.I wipe off and spray with peroxide disinfectant after every meal. I wash them about once a week. These are super durable and last for ages.

Great for older kids with special needs.
I bought this bib for my autistic son with Down Syndrome. I wanted to see how well it worked at keeping his clothes clean during meals. My sons is almost 10, though like most kids with Down Syndrome, he is small. It covers his whole chest and legs while sitting at the table. It obviously does a much better job at protecting his clothes than the baby bibsI seemed to only be able to find. I am very pleased and intend to purchase more.

Life or rather throw up saver!
My kiddo gets really car sick, so I need to cover him up for every trip. I had to get a second one just in case he throws up there and back. This is saving us from huge messes and washing the car-seat every time.
