Major upgraded version of this awesome movie
I've seen this way underrated movie a ton of times but never this beautiful. Honestly this blue-ray is better looking than a 4k I just bought. This is such a great movie. Dolph really pulled off the character so well. The fights are incredible. He's fighting not just the mob but the Yakuza as well. But not kidding it looks so good. Cannot believe how good. What an awesome ride. If only they put the skull on his chest, which director admits is a mistake now. Totally worth it I promise. Oh and don't worry they put the cartoon picture on the inside of double cover. I was worried to.

This is the definitive edition of this film.
My rating is for the edition. The film itself I give 4.5 stars. I'm a fan.The Edition contains an Unrated version of the film, but the work print alone is worth the price. The extra footage, alternate takes and temporary music gives this version of the film a much different feel, some is from Lethal Weapon, Aliens and other films. I understand why they cut the added footage at the beginning, because it slows the pace a little, but it's always fun to see what could have been. The extras are nice, interviews with Mark Goldblatt and Dolph Lundgren, gag reel and original trailer.Say what you want about production values, Dolph Lundgren looks like the comic book come to life and his performance is elevated by the presence of Lou Gossett, Jr. who is always amazing. He can't help it. His performance is spot on as the redeemed cop who desperately wants to help the friend who saved him from the bottle and so is Lundgren's as the damaged vengeful anti-hero. He's always a bit wooden, but in this case it really works, because Frank Castle is emotionally broken. The villains are all solid. The female detective that teams up with Gossett is good. The down and out actor character would have been better if he didn't rhyme his dialogue. It cheapens a pretty good performance and adds a layer of cheese to the film. The action is great. The story isn't spectacular, but it's solid. Is the film perfect, no, but in many ways its the best theatrical Punisher to date. I say theatrical, because honestly Netflix's Punisher series is the best version of Frank Castle I've seen. I highly recommend you see it. . . Right after you see this.

"If you're Guilty, you're Dead..."
The Punisher Blu-ray release by Australian based DVD manufacturing company, Umbrella, is one of the examples of Region Free release with high quality video available to stateside buyers. While the case and classification clearly state “Region B” it works just fine on American Blu-ray player. I have tested it on two so far. A modern LG model and an older Sony model. The release features the main theatrical cut converted to 1080p. As well as standard definition cuts of the Workprint and Unrated cut. The biggest thing here is the fifteen minute longer Workprint which includes the deleted origin you only witness in flashbacks. Video quality is fine, but blemished and the best I have seen for this material you can find on the web. The audio has a temporary score and other unfinished parts. The Unrated cut adds less than a minute of extra gore and violence and comes with a nice commentary track with director, Mark Goldblatt. Also on the disc is two interviews one long interview with the director and a shorter, impromptu interview with Dolph at a fitness club. A gag reel and theatrical trailer are included but do not work because of an authoring error. I was only able to access them through my PC's Blu-ray drive. The trailer is an unimpressive SD 4x3 VHS trailer. The Gag reel is interesting behind the scenes look at production in Australia placed to the tune of Talking Heads “Psycho Killer”. Periodically, the audio of the reel chimes in to the laughter of the cast. The Blu-ray comes in a nice hard plastic case with a reversible slipcover. The reverse side featuring some rather cartoony Punisher art.Overall, as a mega-fan of the movie in America, I was pleased with this import. The only issues I have are the authoring problems and the weird reverse slipcover.

Dolph is the original Punisher
If you’re a Punisher fan like I am, you’ll enjoy this original Punisher flick starring Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle. The film itself is rather cheesy, but Dolph’s portrayal of Frank Castle is quite good. You can see that he is clearly out for one thing, Punishment against all those wrong doers. While Jon Bernthal did an excellent job portraying Frank Castle, I feel like Dolph puts a better spin on the darkness that has taken over his mental state. Don’t even get me started on Thomas Jane, not even close to what the Punisher should be. Buy this if you’re a Punisher fan or just buy it because you need something to watch other than Squid Games or whatever it is the kids are watching these days.

One is the theatrical cut with has good picture and $#
Blu Ray - 4/5: Pertaining to Umbrella Ent. version. This Blu Ray comes with 3 cuts of the movie. One is the theatrical cut with has good picture and $#!+. 2nd cut is the UNCUT version which they added all the extended violent scenes which were pretty bloody. Unfortunately, the additions of these extended bloody crap changes the picture quality making the picture oscillate from nice picture to blurred picture and it can get annoying. But hey, I'll get use to it. The 3rd cut is the Goldblatt cut which is the extended cut of additional scenes and all that. The picture quality is VHS quality at best but it's nice to see a different version of the film, I suppose. Also this Blu Ray comes with an audio commentary, two interviews and gag reel which CAN'T PLAY and a trailer that can't be played either. To add to the confirmation, it says Region B but does play on my Region A Blu Ray player.Movie - 4/5: I love this version of the Punisher. I felt they did the Punisher right with this movie because, considering the comics were influenced by b-movie action movies, it seemed fitting. The action was awesome, the story is good enough and the acting was stiff and great.

Classic 80's Lundgren.
A nice blast from the cheesy past that has no cgi and rudimentary dialog. Already watched it twice this month.

Region 1 Capable. Cheesy Awesome-ness!
I love this movie! Full of cheesy trashy action, and scenes. Lou Gossett is great in everything from a performance standpoint. Everyone else is pretty mechanical as to be expected. This will indeed play on Region 1 players (USA & Canada) as I am in Canada, and it plays fine. Research claimed it would however you can never be to sure.

A must-have for Punisher fans
Awesome movie from childhood, still as fun as I remembered. Good special features including 2 different cuts of the movie, documentaries and audio commentary. The best edition for fans of this movie and would highly recommend.

Never gets up to Speed, TV Movie Quality.
I can only guess that writers and directors approach this again and again and think they can 'distill' what was/is a very complex "Marvel 'Hero' " into a Movie length time frame. Not criticizing the acting or the stunts or the script as such, but it is very dated, however in their defense there is yet to be any movie that like the 'Colossus of Rhodes' strides across Movie and Comic interpretation. Frank Castle is closer to 'Deadpool' than the usual Marvel Suspects. Look at it as a 'Time Capsule'. I will probably never watch it again, but I have it in my Library.

Good movie, quick and easy delivery
I love this movie, been a couple decades since I’ve watched it. Delivery was quick and easy, was Blu-Ray as described.

The original and by far the best.
You can watch this in two versions: cut R Rated Theatrical Version & Uncut Version. The uncut version restores the cuts but the scenes are inserted in noticeable lower quality. This is also Blu-ray ‘B’ so will work on any UK, European & Australian player. The 15 Rated UK Blu-ray just contains only the cut R Rated Theatrical Version.
