TascamDR-10SG Camera-Mountable Audio Recorder with Shotgun Microphone

The most recent in the DR-10 series, the DR-10SG (Shotgun) is exactly what I was looking for.What I love the most about the DR-10 line is the unit’s ability to record locally to a micro SD card. I’ve looked a lot at the different on-camera shotgun microphones but almost all of them rely on the camera’s recording ability which is not usually up to par. This mic can output to the camera (useful for a backup track) while recording to its media at the same time. This doesn’t have to be the case however, so if you don’t want to record to the mSD card you can use it as a dedicated mic only.It’s ability to record to the card also adds to the unit’s potential as a basic boom mic or, as I like to do, leave the mic recording even when the camera isn’t recording. In a multi camera scenario that just adds one more layer of audio redundancy to the project.I have purchased all three DR-10 models and use each of them regularly. Be sure to check the others out too. Specifically he combination of this shotgun mic and the DR-10L (Lavalier) make for an instant and significant improvement to production quality on your projects.

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this microphone because my camera does not have a microphone port on it. It works perfectly. I match the onboard audio to my Tascam in post editing. This is one of the best microphones I bought for under $100, if not the best. Since it is a stand alone microphone, I can see recording nature sounds etc. My video was from testing the gain. The gain is at 40 in the video. I keep it at about 30 and it is perfect for my use.

Wanted to try something different than a Rode, but I was basically unable to use this mic due to the smallest movements creating extreme noise. I practice videography and even when my movements were fluid and free of touching any objects, It would sound like i was throwing my camera down the stairs. And even with a windscreen on the wind would shake the tripod just the slightest bit and would create unusable audio. I really wanted to keep this mic so I eventually just mounted to the wall next to my computer desk since i figured "hey the sound quality is actually not that bad if nothing but sweet soft sounds touch it", so I'll use it for voice overs and whatnot. But even after wall mounting, the tiniest vibrations of people walking relatively softly above and inside my apartment created audible bumps. Also Holding it in hand was out of the question too. Just the slight variations of my grip tightening or slightly moving sounded like i was rubbing sandpaper against the mic. Returning

Good mic that's a bit fragile and with a noise floor that's a bit high but frankly for the price it's hard to complain and hard to beat.

The media could not be loaded.  If you want great sound, no headache, simplicity, and user friendliness, then purchase this mic.I am thoroughly satisfied with the Tascam DR 10SG. I find it easy to set up and record. The sound is as I desire. I don’t like the sound from the camera. So, I just use the recorded sound from this mic and sync it with my video and it’s amazing. My voice is just the way I want it. And this mic is very economical too if you’re staring out like I was. So, go with this one for now.

Great sound/Low Price.An immediate win when I unboxed it and read the manual - it can be powered via USB! My only reservation was the crappy AAA battery requirement. The mic I have is the replacement of the first one and I finally managed to find out that it doenst work with any memory cards above 32GB. Its nowhere on the amazon page and only found out after calling Amazon and getting in tiuch with the retailer. THIS MIC IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH 32GB CARDS AND UNDER. So now I gotta go and buy a 32gb card. Hope this helps anyone who got it and thinks thats its malfunctioning.

Lots of bang for your buck! Great sound

It is so light ... like a feather! Sound quality is not so great, but it is so light that you cannot hardly notice when attached to your setup. My zoom 6 has great sound quality but is nearly as heavy as my gh4 camera which almost doubles the weight! BUT ... this is super for people who tire easily and prefer less weight. R and D have done a magnificent job for portability. It is incredible how light it is, especially when you consider that it is a sound unit and shotgun microphone all in one!

Excellent. I can completely recommend it. I'm not a big fan of the 'auto' level mode on it (I always end up using the safety track because of occasional peaking) but it works great and as expected. The dual version recording function is very useful. Sounds wonderful and worth buying.

En principio lo esperaba más robusto. Se ve un poco fragil. Mucho plástico. El micrófono incorporado es sencillo, parecido al Rode Videomic GO en cuanto a tamaño y aspecto. El diseño está bien. Es estético y de aspecto pro. Quizá un poco pequeño. Tiene un par de accesorios, como un adaptador "telescópico" para alejar el micro de los ruidos del obturador de la cámara una vez que está montado en la zapata y un cable corto con conexión 3.5 por si quieres usar el dispositivo directamente como micrófono externo.El audio que recoge es de bastante calidad y puedes grabar tanto en WAV como en MP3.Personalmente me resulta muy cómodo grabar el audio de mis vídeos en este dispositivo por no tener que usar cables, y la calidad que obtengo no difiere apenas de la de un micrófono de cañón conectado a una grabadora digital con XLR.Eso sí, en exteriores se cuela mucho el ruido del viento, por lo que es un dispositivo de audio ideal para interiores.Si no quieres complicarte la vida y buscas un audio muy cercano a lo profesional este es tu micrófono.

Il microfono e fatto bene ma il motivo di 3 stelle non è per la qualità costruttiva del prodotto ma per il ronzio che fa questo microfono.Ho provato fare di tutto... diverse prove per fare eliminare il rumore di fondo ma non sono riuscita con la macchina gh5.Il microfono ha tanti opzioni sul menu, e molto comodo e utile, con due pulsanti puoi tranquillamente aumentare e diminuire il vol in entrata della camera in un secondo, si può fare la registrazione sia sulla camera ma anche direttamente sul microfono tascam con la micro sd così si ottiene anche l'audio da un altra fonte.La cosa che non mi convince era la batteria AAA che max durava 3 ore, mi aspettavo di più.Per le mie esigenze questo mic non andava bene e lo restituita, ma se vi serve per fare delle riprese in locale con la musica alta questo mic va benissimo, la qualità audio e perfetta, se vi serve per le riprese tipo interviste direi di no per il rumore di sottofondo che è un po fastidioso.

Ottimo microfono/registratore, meglio dei vari Rode, in quanto a un prezzo simile permette di avere microfono e registratore insieme (in modo da avere 2 copie in più delle riprese audio) e, cosa non da poco, presenta un guadagno di addirittura 50 db, che consente di tenere basso il volume della fotocamera e guadagnare in qualità.Consigliatissimo
