One to keep.
Having watched the original series we found this a well made and very enjoyable new series. One we will return to again and again. The countryside itself is one of the stars of this programme and it is a well casted drama with both tension and comedy taking their part.Full marks to the team who assembled the props and turned back the clock in Grassington.

More Sunlit Uplands
This box set of the second series in Channel 5's welcome revival of All Creatures Great and Small begins with the 2020 Christmas Special and the last-minute decision on the part of Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) not to marry a local upper-crust landowner, thus leaving the way for James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) to pursue his own close interest in her. The series ends in a happy, if predictable, outcome with their engagement. It is now 1938 and in the background to the celebrations the broadcast news of the Munich Agreement seems, indeed, to herald 'peace in our time'. Little does everyone know that the beautiful sunlit uplands of the Yorkshire Dales and, indeed, the whole of Europe will soon lie in shadow. Yet, throughout the seven episodes there is much to savour in the lives and day-to-day experiences of the predominantly likeable characters. It is possible that some of the more cynical armchair critics will find it all too cosy for its own good but this is such a heart-warming saga, so winningly scripted, acted and directed, as to give considerable pleasure to what must surely be the overwhelming majority.

Better than the original
I could watch this series time over. Imho, far better than the original, the characters are more rounded, the Yorkshire farmers less dour and more approachable. The Farnon Brothers are less "superior" and Mrs Hall? Wonderful and has a back story. As does James.

Certainly Great
In these days of 'woke' culture, this series continues to stand head and shoulders above the rest, easily equaling the original series and in some cases even surpassing it. If only I could say the same about Dr Who. This series proves that quality television can still be made.

Enjoyable
I bought this for my Mum as she had problems with her TV and so missed the second series when it was shown on Channel 5.She enjoyed it and watched it in one sitting (it’s 4.5 hrs long). She loves the scenery etc. She thought it was as good as Series One (but in the meantime my sister bought her the original All Creatures Great and Small in a box set and she does prefer the original) .Her only disappointment was that they didn’t show the wedding.

High expectations but a bit bland
A previous series appeared about 30 or so years ago that seemed so fresh and appealing. Well produced series but not so engaging as expected

2nd series as good as first
While the series does divert a little from the original books, in my opinion the updated characters are an improvement. The actors play their role faithful to the concept though not rigorously to the original script....
