Will Eisner's The Spirit: The New Adventures HC (Second Edition)

Great collection of new Spirit stories by writers/artists who understand and love the originals.

Will Eisner is a hard act to follow, particularly regarding the character of the Spirit (presumed dead criminologist Denny Colt), but in this collection, the following are up to the challenge:Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) offer three distinct takes on Denny Colt's confrontation with mad scientist Dr. Cobra.Neil Gaiman (Sandman) and Eddie Campbell (Bacchus) offer "The return of Mink Stole"."Spinx the Jinx in the game of Life" is by the creators of Judge Dredd , John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra."The Samovar of Shooshnipoor" is by the creators of Astro City, Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson."The Weapon" is by Michael Allred (Madman), Michael Avon Oeming (Powers) and Matt Brundage.Mark Schultz (Xenozoic Tales/Caddilacs and Dinosaurs) and David Lloyd (the artist of V for Vendetta) provide "Dr. Broca Von Bitelbaum".All these and many others, under a gorgeous cover by Gibbons, give the character a bit of relevance for a new readership, which would lead the way for the Spirit's revivals at DC and Dynamite.Definitely worth reading.
