Refreshing read !
This story is about a boy named Charlie Bucket who lived with his family. His family barely managed to survive with very little money. There would be some days when Charlie would survive on cabbage soup or just starve. His life was totally miserable....But there was on thing that made Charlie happy and that was the smell of the chocolate factory, he used to pass by, twice a day while going and coming back from school. He always used to look at the giant chocolate factory and was eager to know that how would it look from inside...The chocolate factory, belonged to Willy Wonka who manufactured the most magical, mouth watering, beautiful and scrumptious chocolates in the whole world. One day, he held a contest for children where he announced that a Golden Ticket would be hidden underneath the ordinary wrapping paper of 5 ordinary bars of chocolate. The 5 lucky finders of these 5 Golden tickets would earn a free day tour in his giant chocolate factory and would also be allowed to see the secrets and magic of his factory...A visit to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory is nothing less than a dream come true for any child in the world. His chocolate factory is every chocolate lover's paradise...Who would be the 5 luckiest kids who would get a chance to win a free day tour to the chocolate factory ?Would Charlie be one those 5 kids who would win a day tour to the chocolate factory ?..This book is soo good that after reading it you are surely going to crave for chocolates 😜😜..I give 5 / 5.

Great illustrations and decent paper quality
The book is really awesome. Kids of the age group of 12 and 13 are definitely gonna love it. The quality of paper is fair and the font is eye friendly. You can go with it, if you want your children to fall in love with book reading. All d best.

Book
This product is actually good the story is fine for small children The thing I didn't like in this is that that the ending of the story wasn't so interesting it was getting interesting and then dope it's done so I think the ending could have been more interesting

Colourful !!
I ordered this book as a gift thinking it was a normal sized paperback (I didn't look at the size before ordering) with the odd coloured illustration, but when it arrived it was a lovely surprise to find it's a large paperback book (26.4 cm x 19.8 cm) and all of the actual pages are multi-coloured (lovely ice cream colours) and then all of the illustrations (and they are on every page) are coloured too !! A fantastic story and a beautiful book. (my photo's are a bit rubbish and don't do the colours justice)

Excellent story by Roald Dahl
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Roald DahlMy son wrote this review as he was the one that read and enjoyed this book, I've read this book myself but it was many a moons ago...A really good book and is the first book of the 'Charlie and The...' series. And is the most popular Roald Dahl book to this date, well I think so anyway. It's about a boy called 'Charlie' that can't afford to buy chocolate bars but luckily finds some money and buys some and shares the chocolate with his family. There's a few golden tickets available hidden in chocolate bars and his grandpa gives him his savings to buy one more bar of chocolate hoping to find the golden ticket which de does.He takes a tour around the secret chocolate factory with his grandpa with a group of misbehaved children. Eventually Charlie is the only one left at the end and ignore the offer to him by Mr Wonkas employee which led Mr Wonka to give him the factory and Charlies whole family move in living happily ever after. The characters are:Charlie Bucket;Mr and Mrs Bucket;Grandpa Joe;Grandma Josephine;Grandpa George;Mr Willy Wonka; The Oompa Loompas;Mr and Mrs Gloop and Augustus Gloop;Mr and Mrs Teavee and Mike Teavee;Mr and Mrs Beauregarde and Violet BeauregardeMr and Mrs Salt and Veruca SaltOverall very well-done book with a very good storyline, I just wish there was a competition so that I could win a chocolate factory, I wouldn't mind any factory just so long as it makes chocolate.Highly recommended.AmazonCustomer 0141365374 130722

Wonderful Children' s Classic
I really do find it astonishing that this book was published in 1964 as it definitely feels much later. As I said in my preamble, this was a book in my childhood. I can still picture the purple cover with a massive chocolate-making machine on it, surrounded by the golden ticket winners. But the novel has endured right up to present day, with Roald Dahl novels still being a core staple of any bookshop. The story is marvellous, and has a lovely hero Charlie Bucket, who lives in poor conditions with his mother, father, and 4 elderly grandparents, all surviving on cabbage soup and a slice of bread and margarine. The family is so sweet. Charlie insists on sharing his annual bar of chocolate with his family and when Grandpa Joe has a coin, it is Charlie he wants to spend it on.But it is the chocolate factory that tantalises and delights and Mr Wonka himself, one of Dahl's most enigmatic characters who make this book. There is almost a childlike quality about Willy Wonka. Picture his reaction when Mike Teavee asks quite sensible questions, and he pretends to be deaf or accuses Mike of mumbling so he doesn't have to answer them.Just like a chocolate bar, the world of Willy Wonka is shiny wrapped and full of colour and sensation, designed to tempt. The names of the chocolate bars: a whipple-scrumptious fudgemallow delight, a chewing gum that provides a 3 course meal, a land where the chocolate is mixed, complete with edible green grass and fruits. All from the imagination of one of the best storytellers. The other children are truly ghastly and leave us rooting for Charlie. But again these characters have become some of the best known in literature. This is Dahl at his best, the language, the story, the chocolate. All serve to delight and entertain. I agree, this is my favourite Dahl book and deserves its place at #35 on the BBC Big Read List.

A catalyst to a child's imagination!!!
Fantastic book!!! Loved reading it with my seven year old daughter. I bought it because she wanted to do a book box on this book for world book day. I was not sur she will enjoy it. But I am happy to say I was absolutely wrong. She loved every page of it. We have been reading about three chapters a day. She now knows exactly what she wants in her book box..... love how Roald Dahl has taken her and me on a journey. We got the couloured version. I was wondering why the couloirs version was 160 pages and the normal one was 200. Wondered if it was a truncated version. The truth is, it is a bigger book and can take more words than the normal book hence the lesser number of pages. Wanted to mention in case some else also wondered. I would recommend the coloured edition. It is more expensive than the normal one but totally worth it as the children can see the couloirs in the picture when Mr Wonka takes them through the journey. Happy reading everyone.

Regular paperback with monochrome illustrations.
Other reviewers were excited to receive a large-sized, colour-illustrated version. But I just received a normal paperback version with a few black/white illustrations on some pages. I didn’t need the fancy version and the description didn’t promise it but it was disappointing anyway.
