This is a great deal BUT you have to pay to have it installed (unless you can hoist the car yourself) cost us around $200.It needed to be put on the lift at the mechanics for them to weld it on. Mechanic did say this is the only good way to prevent theft!! Any of the other ways like spray painting don’t deter!

It is a quarter of the price that dealerships charge for the cover, so that's a big plus immediately. In theory, this makes it a bit tougher for thieves to remove the cat converter, so since cat converter thieves are usually lazy, pathetic opportunistic cowards, these covers make them move on to a softer target.I am hoping that the cover also functions as a good black widow spider nesting area so that the thieves that get brave enough to cut it open can say hello to my little (spider) friends.

The box had been opened and carelessly resealed. It had no instructions but luckily my mechanic knew what to do. It is too early to say if it works or how sturdy. The main thing so far is that it changes the sound of the car - it has a noticeable growl when the gas engine is on. We used the double sided tape to limit the rattle other reviews mention. I'll give it 4* for now.Update two years later: the cat shield works! Field-tested in San Jose, CA which is practically ground zero for catalytic converter theft. Mine hasn’t been stolen despite parking on the street day and night. The sound either went away or I got used to it.

I had my catalyic converter stolen and after I had a new one installed, I discussed with my mechanic a deterrent to having it stolen again. They recommended that a shield would help. There was no specific item they recommended as they indicated they were pretty much all the same. I decided on this one, due to ratings and the price. My mechanic indicated that after it is installed, generally they have to adjust several times to prevent the shield from rattling when you drive. When they finished the install so fast, I was suprised because I thought they would need time to adjust the shield to prevent it from rattling. My mechanic said this was easy to install and they did not need to adjust because the product included spacers that prevents it from rattling. Overall, this was an easy and inexpensive and much easier than having another catalytic converter stolen. :) Happy Camper

Showed up right away just as described. It fit fine and there are no noises or vibrations at 80MPH on the freeway.

I bought this cat cover here on Amazon and I took it to the Toyota dealer / service department to have it installed. In March 2023, Toyota charged me $150 for installation. I was told the mechanic considered this one of the best he had installed. I would attach pictures but I don’t feel like messing with my phone’s settings to give Amazon permission to access all my photos. Thank you, Amazon Reviewers, because you helped me decide which cover to buy. You also helped with complaints about rattling noise. I bought insulation strip, per your suggestions, but the Toyota mechanic already had a plastic something-something to insert and keep it from rattling. Because you told me of the rattle, I went to Toyota with that knowledge and they worked to eliminate the rattle. Again, thank you Seller. Thank you Customer Reviewers.
