it's a basic SSD in a fancy shell - just get an external SSD + a USB-C PD hub
TL;DR: great marketing - take a $60 SSD, stuff it in a nice looking little shell with some ports on it, make it VERY device specific by putting TWO USB-C inputs on it, mark it up 200%... PROFIT!DISCLOSURE: I reviewed two of these, one silver, one space grey. The Space Grey matches the MBP almost perfectly, silver's a bit off. They both use the same internals.Clearly, I am NOT a fan of this device.Yes, it works - but it's double the price it should be and only works on one line of machines. If you need an external SSD, pick up a Crucial BX500 480GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD and an external USB-C power delivery hub - boom. I just saved you $100.Attached pics are of the SSD installed in the device, as well as CyrstalDiskMark rating. The control chip is an SM2259XT, SATA 6Gb/s 4-CH, FYI.No love.EDIT - parenthetically, if you connect a USB-C to USB-A adaptor to the USB-C plug closer to the centre of the unit, it will act as an external SSD drive with other types of devices.

Small compact size. Huge storage capacity. Very useful for everyday use and for travel/work.
I had a similar unit that I used for a while and gave it away to my cousin. Then, I started using this one. The data transfer is fast. The connection is fast and stable and I do not suffer from any connection issues. There are no breaks or blackouts. The small size and compactness makes it so useful when you don't want to go around carrying your laptops or even other slightly bigger external drives. This one fits in the front shirt pocket and holds 480GB. That is very helpful. It holds everything you have in your laptop. Perfect for travel or work use. I love the fact that the shell is aluminium. So, it can handle little bumps and hits without damaging the casing and the inside parts. All in all, an excellent external storage. Highly recommend.
