Meditations of Marcus Aurelius

Historic yet an Easy Read
Great gift for history nerds and deep thinkers like myself. I also started giving it as a college graduation gift. As a high School grad gift. I used to give "A Peoples History of the United States" (because nothing kids love more after 12 years of school than to get a long, dry book) I would include a note about "learning never stops, maybe check this out later if not sooner, just say know, etc. - I switched it up to giving "Lies My Teacher Told Me" instead, with the same note. "Meditations" is a lot shorter but also important.

Great insights
Mu key issues are with the edition rather than the content. I don’t understand why the edition can’t replace “thy” with “yours”. It’s not the original text but a translation from Greek so they can change the vocab to make it less distracting. Also the book is needlessly long and awkward to hold.In terms of content I feel like it gives us great insight into Marcus’s mind and reflections. The key concept of the book is Logos which is the logic and set principle of the universe which means that everything that happens meant to happen so we most accept it with no emotions but rather as a set and stone fact. Marcus also highlights the 4 cardinal virtues and gives some insights into a good life. Overall satisfying read.

very small letters
this book needs no introduction, it was the personal diary of Markus Aurelius, but in this version very small letters have been used to save the pages and also high-level English has been used which makes it a little hard to understand and grasp the wisdom of this book( words like "thou" and "thee" ).
