Blows plenty of cold air!
My Air Conditioning contractor loaned me this unit that he uses in his shop while our main AC is being replaced. We live in a dry climate (low humidity) and experience triple digit heat occasionally. This model kept my living room, dining room and even my kitchen area comfortable even when it was 105 degrees outside. I also wrapped 'reflectix' around the vent hose (as seen in picture) that really helped to stop radiating heat escaping from the vent hose. My temp gun shows actual cooled air coming from the unit when the compressor kicks on at 42 degrees. My last experience with a portable AC unit was years ago and it performed so poorly I actually gave it away despite paying almost $700 for it. The LG works well and has a one year parts and labor warranty. The unit uses about 1200 watts (around 9.7 amps with the compressor kicked in). I also keep the doors to my other rooms closed and placed inexpensive( and easily removed, no tape) owens-corning foam board insulation cut to fit my window frame sills during very warm days. Remember, this is not a replacement for your 220 volt, 5 ton HVAC main unit that cools your entire house. For the price I consider it a bargain and would buy it again if needed.

Sucks this product sucks.
I am so disappointed with this purchase these units are not as good as window units. They are not quiet they never shut off even when it gets to the temperature you set it on it keeps running. It does not even cool my Living Room which is only a 12 by 20. Set It for 72 and a few hours later it was 80 in here. I will be returning this unit and going back to window units.

A great portable unit
Bought a similar unit over a decade ago, so knew what to expect by a portable unit. Good to see technology has advanced, the LG unit is lighter, works a bit better. One of the common complaints in the reviews for this product is the noise. I don't find that an issue, know that it won't be whisper quiet. Another complaint is that it won't cool an area adequately. Know your BTU's, that 8K is for the smallest of rooms, 10K does well with an average bedroom, for anything larger look at a 12K or 14K BTU unit. Another issue in the reviews is that the water reservoir fills. In more humid areas I've lived, you can always hook up a tube to a 5 gallon water bottle or trashcan. It isn't an issue here with humidity around 23%. If these aren't acceptable, then portable units aren't for you. Here they are perfect for us, it only gets warm two months of the year, and after that we move them into storage.

Air gets very cold in 800 sq ft house
Ok here is what I have determined after 2 weeks of owning this. First, a bit about my situation: I live in NorCal where it regularly gets to 110+ in the summer. I live in a 800 sq ft house, which has right-to-left sliding windows with an opening of precisely 14.5 inches, making it truly impossible to find window ac units that fit. My house also faces directly East. I have a senior toy poodle who CANNOT handle anything above 78 indoors. I have my ac set up in my dining room, with the air vent facing my couch in the living room, approx 12 feet away.Pros: it gets COLD. It pumps out a ton of cool air. I have mine set to 75, and I can tell you the air coming out is WAY COLDER than 75. The control panel is nice enough without being fancy. The remote is a nice bonus feature. The fan function is awesome during my last few cooler mornings before it reaches 115.Cons: the window vent unit is about useless, ESPECIALLY if you have r-l sliding windows like I do. The instructions are useless. BUT it was a simple enough fix. I purchased additional double sided stick foam insulation and it's working great ($9 at Home Depot). Secondly, the unit is fairly large and you can't move it around, though that is to be expected with all "portable ac units." It is quite loud, but no louder than my old through-the-wall unit that died last summer. Lastly, I thought it had a cycle-on-cycle-off setup but it doesn't. It's either ON or OFF.My takeaway: I wish I'd bought it sooner. It isn't perfect, but it has worked consistently and I have only turned it off for a few hours at a time. The air is very cold so far. It is going to be 111 this week, so I will update this if it can hold up to that heat. I would definitely recommend this unit if you cannot use window units.

Works great!
This air conditioner not only is a life saver, but it also saved almost 70 dollars on my electric bill last month. I have an old apartment which came with one AC wall unit (not a window unit) which I was told is meant to cool my entire apartment. My apartment unit uses more electricity than this portable does. Since I got this thing, my apartment stays cool (I have a 750 sq foot apartment, which is easily cooled by both units) and uses less electricity. It is a bit loud, but I just turn it on as needed and it cools down the place quick. I use it for an area larger than what it's meant for, and it still works great. I would highly recommend!

Stopped working when I really needed it...
So I got this 2 years ago and have used it sporadically for a couple of hours a night 1 week each year. This year with the HUGE heatwave that the PNW is having I've needed to use it more consistently. I have had it going for ~10 hours a day for the last 4 days. And now it's basically dead.It won't cool for more than 5 min any longer. I've left it off for hours at a time and it doesn't change the presentation, I've tried leaving just the fan on and it doesn't help. So it seems that this is fine as long as all you have is minimal cooling needs. Once you really need it, it fails.

Works
the machine works great but customer service bites have been trying to get broken wheel replaced. I have 2 year warranty on machine but all i need is a new wheel but if i do not get one i will return whole machine which i think is very stupid just for a wheel.
