The cookies are made in Saudi Arabia.The outside is shortbread, and they are filled with date paste. I like the taste and the texture, even if it meant they were too easy to break and even crumble.I love the short ingredient's list - like something that was made at home, not on a production line.

I’ve always been a huge fan of dates. Growing up, we would take trips up to the high desert and stop for date nut shakes. Then it was a stopover at the local nut farm for a selection of nuts and dates and then we’d munch on the way home. Date-filled cookies are always a win for me. The dates are just sweet enough for my taste and they’re quite filling. Halwani Brothers cookies are individually packaged, which means I can toss a couple (okay, three) in my bag to snack on when I’m out and about. The cookies are surprisingly filling and they’re really good with either hot tea or coffee for a nice afternoon pick-me-up. But…they are the most tasty as a topping with vanilla ice cream. The crunch of the cookie along with the tasty filling makes for a great addition to the cooling sweetness of dessert. Most definitely recommended.

Wanted to give as Christmas gifts. But… the cookie dough was dry and too crumbly

The cookie portion of these cookies is almost like an unsweetened shortbread. It is buttery and melts in your mouth. It leaves behind a residue on the wrapper that reminds me of the flour that sticks to the bottom of a prepared pan after you remove the cake. Oddly, I absolutely love that part of the cake, so I find myself scraping the wrapper of these cookies clean every time.The inside is a naturally sweet date paste. It blends deliciously with the shortbread cookie.The cookies are crumbly and break easily, so these are not good for taking with you on the go or for school lunches.

I love that each cookie is individually wrapped and should last a while. I tried one, and I admit I really wasn’t that impressed. They aren’t horrible, but the cookie is very dry and crumbly, and there doesn’t seem to be much date paste in them at all. They have a very slight almost artificial aftertaste. If you like shortbread, you will probably like these, but if you are looking for more date-flavor, look elsewhere. They’re OK.
