How To Play Blues Rock Bass Volume 1: An 80-20 Device Method Book

Valuable book for anyone looking to jam a 12 bar blues.
This book will help you build confidence in improvising a 12 bar blues bass line so you can attend a open mic session etc. It explains a clear process and builds familiarity with devices that will walk through the chord changes. I have only had the book for a week and haven’t internalised it yet, but I have already started creating my own compositions and can see with a bit more work how it will be possible to improvise lines in real time.

Great methodical learning tool
Great book and approach - breaking down the complex sounding lines into bite-size pieces and making standalone and mixable "recipes" (devices) out of them that allow you to easily mix and match to construct your own convincing bass lines.

It's like going to music college for free!!!
Buying Paul Wolfe's How to play Blues Rock Bass vol.1 is like going to music college for free!!! This is the best blues bass instruction resource on the market. I have never come across a music tutoring book with a free online version that comes with over 175 MP3 practice tracks for you to download to your own device, tons of supplementary lessons and with nearly every example in the book filmed (for you to view) at two tempo levels so you can see and hear how each of the examples is played!!! This book is the first of three volumes. The detail to attention is quite remarkable and if one is looking to learn and master the art/genre of the blues then this book has to be your No.1 choice. It literally is like getting a college education on blues bass guitar with a personal tutor. This learning system is THE best. The author/instructor Paul Wolfe is just an email away from answering any queries you might have along the way. The material is authentic. I bought vol.1 and immediately bought vol.2 which has the same amount of supplementary materials and additional resources including video examples etc.. These books are the best method books on the market. They are priceless!!!

Excellent approach. Highly recommended.
I've played bass on and off for over 20 years and have also played piano for about 5. I'm picking up the bass after a rest for a few years due to other life priorities and wanted something to get my mojo back.I've used quite a few books and still have most of them but would consider this to be amongst the very best.He has a simple and clear way of explaining what he's trying to get across and manages to tread the fine line between being too complex (I know all about that, playing jazz piano 😆) and so simple to be worthless. What really hits it home is the amount and quality of all the supplemental resources you get including mp3's, videos and additional written information.Paul was also very quick to respond when I had a question.Highly recommended. I will be buying the other books and just wish I had another 12 hours in the day available to spend on this.

Its Volume 2 next for me ......Highly reccommended . Paul really knows his " stuff " ...

Great content
I am a reasonable bass player but this book is excellent for beginners to improver. There is a lot of content and practice tips. You also get the free download with all the backing tracks. The whole thing is less expensive than one private Bass lesson. There is always something to lean about this great instrument.
