These wooden balls are actually 4.2 inches in diameter.....the package says 1.5 - 5 to give you an actual size reference it’s a size of a ping pong ball or a walnut with shell.

Q: Do these have a flat side so they will stay in place on a table?

No. If needed you can use a file to flatten a sde if you want to.
