Effective
With everyone's body having different needs and issues, how can you really tell that a product like this is effective? To me, seeing it work under real life conditions is the key. I am a self-taught herbalist and I've used this as a key part of an herbal formula to resolve some serious internal health issues for a family member. Dramatic positive changes that are in perfect alignment with what plantain does leaves me no doubt about the quality of this tincture. I'm a major fan of this brand because I need non-alcoholic tincture options. Avoiding alcohol can be especially important for those with a history of alcoholism, and I greatly appreciate what an extensive line of herbs this company offers. Plantain is very helpful in resolving issues of internal bleeding, swelling, excessive discharges (such as mucus from the lungs and sinuses), among other things. It also makes a pleasant earthy tea, if you prefer to go that route. Tinctures work better in my case because the person I'm helping can't take hot liquids right now. I can confidently recommend this tincture as being of good quality. It tastes very sweet due to the glycerine, so it's not at all unpleasant to take. A full squeeze is about 1 ml. For treating issues, the standard dose range is 2-5 ml, 3x a day. (This company always recommends a very low, cautious dose on its products, but you typically need stronger dosing to resolve problems when using herbal medications). The general rule is to use lower dosing (in this case, 2 ml, 3x a day) for smaller people (kids, small adults) and larger doses for people of larger mass. Larger doses are also recommended to deal with severe conditions (such as internal bleeding). The effects of plantain are amplified when you combine it with herbs that have similar actions. The key is to pinpoint what actions you want, then find herbs that will perform in that way. A single herb typically has many different effects on the body, so you can hone what an herb does by emphasizing certain actions over others. In my case, I'm trying to stop internal bleeding, reduce internal swelling, and clear an internal infection which is causing inflammation and burning of the GI lining. I have combined Plantain, Bilberry, and Pau d'Arco--all non-alcoholic tinctures made by this company. The results have been stellar. If over-drying occurs, you can soften the effect with their Mallow Flower tincture. To heal/moisten gut lining, you can also take Marshmallow Root powder or tea (just not a tincture) separately from these astringing tinctures.Everyone's needs are different and Plantain is a fabulous multi-tasker. When used for appropriate conditions, it's an excellent herb to have on hand.
