Ethereal yet depressing with that Moorcock theme of characters pulled around by unpleasant destiny
I picked this up mainly for the group of four connected, alternate universe third world war stories. Those four stories are strangely ethereal yet depressing with that regular Moorcock theme of characters being pulled around by an unpleasant destiny and not struggling too much against it. Almost all of the other eight unrelated stories in this collection are also well worth spending time on so that was a bonus.

Misleading.
Moorcock ramblings and nothing to do with WWIII.

A mixed bag
Moorcock is often hit or miss for me (outside of Eternal Champion stories). The Carieme Purse is quite enjoyable, along with the early 3rd WW stories and the Frozen Cardinal, while I found Crossing into Cambodia as repulsive (and hardly the same character).
