Bought it March, failed in April
I bought a pair of these shocks because one of the original shocks on my truck had failed. Replaced them both and a month later the one on the driver's side failed.

Smooth ride not too stiff.
I’ve got 223k+ miles on my 2004 Dodge Dakota 4x4. I like these KYB Excel-G gas shocks better than any others I’ve had on this truck and the price. These KYB Excel-G gas shocks seem to respond to changing road conditions for a lot smoother, comfortable ride than the previous heavy duty Gabriels I had on it for normal driving conditions and dirt trails come hunting season. These new shocks paired with new Trailfinder All Terrain tires seems to have restored the ride close to the Dakota’s original capabilities. I’m happy with the ride, not too stiff. I’d recommend these all the way around for a comfortable ride.

I must say if anyone asks me what to get in terms of front shocks on a rig like mine, i'll not hesitate to recommend these
I purchased these KYB 344049 Excel-G OE Replacement shocks with a bit of trepidation, as I previously had no experience with the brand. I have to say these really are a quality made shock absorber. They have made the front end of my 20 year old f150 feel almost back to the way it was when I purchased it. They are physically smaller in diameter than the factory shock, but the design and construction are very solid, the ride the provide is firm, not mushy, and they definitely brought the cornering dive under control. The bottom mount did take a little finesse in installation, you may need to shave about a mm off of it with a flat file or open the bottom mount on the frame a hair with a hammer. that could also be due to my trucks age and surface rust. I must say if anyone asks me what to get in terms of front shocks on a rig like mine, i'll not hesitate to recommend these, at all.

Restored the factory ride in my 30 year old truck-
Restored the factory ride in my 30 year old truck- infinitely better that the Monroes and Gabriels I had to replace every 6 to 12 months. I'm the one who blurs the line between frugal and cheap bastard and I wish I had bought these years ago! Even though I was getting free warranty shocks for YEARS these KYB were only $20 more than the shocks I was using. Talked to several owners of old vehicles who were using KYB shocks and they have the same ride restoration experience. They don 't fix bad or worn springs but the difference in handling and shock longevity is amazing.

92 Ford F350 XLT Dually Dump Truck
Finally replaced the stock shocks on my 92 Ford dump truck. Rides like a dream once again. Still rough, as a dump truck should be, but man does it recover much, much quicker. My wife no longer gets sea sick. Brakes better. Corners better. All around great value for the money.
