Potassium Permanganate Solution 0.1N (0.02M). Made with Free-Flowing Powder, 99.8% Pure and high grade Reagent ACS CAS#7722-64-7. Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4); also known as Permanganate of Potash or Condy's Crystals. This chemical is a powerful oxidizer that does not generate any toxic byproducts. Potassium Permanganate is commonly used in emergency situations to ignite camp-fires. A few drops of Glycerin on a small mound of Potassium Permanganate will produce a spontaneous flame. Additionally, 50 milligrams of KMnO4 will make a liter of water safe to drink; while a more concentrated solution can be used as an antiseptic. Outside of Bushcraft, Potassium Permanganate is used in prop-making, model-building, and taxidermy as a weathering agent. Its oxidizing effects create aged looks in cloth, wood, and glass; and can be used to turn organic materials such as deer antlers brown. Aquarists use Potassium Permanganate to treat Trichodina, Costia, Chilodonella, Gryodactylus, and Dactylogyrus; as well as to remove odors from tank water. CAUTION: Potassium Permanganate easily stains skin, clothes, and any organic materials. These stains are best treated with Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). HUNDREDS OF USES INCLUDING: Water Purifier / Antiseptic / Fire-Starter / Pyrotechnics / Aquarium Treatment / Pool Treatment / Flash Powder / Deer Antler Bronzer / Weathering Agent (Propmaking) / Water Colorant (Deep Purple).
