Great flavor, reduces cravings, wonderful texture
I have been consuming No Cow bars for a year now. My favorites are the chocolate brownie, the blueberry cobbler and this lemon merinque. I use them strategically with a diet I have been doing. Obviously, eating an exclusively plant whole foods diet is best, so I do that normally, but I use these when I am on the go, in a hurry, or when I am exercising. They are best consumed with about 20 oz of water. Their fiber is essential to health, and it keeps you satisfied, but you do need to drink water with them. Water is good!Over the year I have lost 65 lbs of fat (I have a scale that measures fat/muscle/etc;). These bars have the right number of carbs/protein/fat for my plan. They are great when I hike or bike because when I exercise I eat every 45 minutes to maintain and prevent my body from burning muscle. I just stash these bars in a backpack/purse/pockt and I have them when I need them. These bars have saved me from cravings, too, because they provide just enough of a flavor or texture I crave so the craving is curbed and I feel satisfied. Sometimes I exercise just so I can eat one. I also use Vega 20g protein bars which are very much like a candy bar, but they actually cause cravings. The No Car bars reduce cravings.

Mostly sweeteners, like all protein bars
It's hard to find a non-chocolate protein bar, and this has a nice tart-sweet fruity taste. The downside is that, like all protein bars, it's packed with sweeteners, including the sugar alcohol erythritol, which has now been linked to cardiac problems. There have been a lot of warnings lately about erythritol, so THAT's not reassuring. But it does taste good! For protein bars, relatively moderate calorie count and sodium content. All the "sugar alternative" sweeteners - including things like monk fruit (which may be in this too -- I can't recall just now) are extremely sweet - much sweeter than actual sugar -- and mess with your brain and metabolism just like sugar does. I'd like to wean myself off this stuff but sweets are addictive, so for the time being I'm allowing myself the indulgence.

High protein, taste good
I highly recommend these. Good taste, high protein, low sugar. All that I was looking for in a protein bar.

Good nutritional qualities, but inconsistent taste/texture at best.
Lemon Meringue:I think some of the rave reviews for these bars gave me some unrealistic expectations. Upon opening the packaging, the bar is not very appetizing to look at - kind of like a discolored tootsie roll that has been stepped on. So I closed my eyes and took a bite. The flavor is there and it does have a nice lemon taste, but the texture is a bit chalky. I will definitely finish this box, but I'm not sure the great nutrients in it are enough to make me purchase this product again.Update: Peanut Butter Chocolate ChipI was on the fence about reordering, but I decided to give another flavor a try because I liked the nutritional value of these bars compared to others I was looking at. I read several reviews before deciding on a flavor, and thought this was my best chance. The first bar I ate was right after a workout and it tasted awesome. Apparently that was just my hunger level or these bars are extremely inconsistent (which is something I noted in a few reviews) because I just opened another bar for a mid morning snack and it tastes rancid. The expiration date is over 8 months away, so I am not sure why the flavor is so off.In summary, I ended up receiving another box of lemon meringue on autoship but will be cancelling these bars for future orders. They cost too much for me to not even be able to finish some of them.

New Lemon Meringue Formula is Not a Success
Note: this review is only for the lemon meringue flavor.I've been a devotee of these bars, specifically the lemon meringue flavor, for over a year. I've been on a lifting/body transformation program to go from a tight size 4 to a comfortable size 2, and these bars are key to my progress. I really only eat the lemon meringue flavor because it's my absolute favorite. Why two stars, you ask? It's the new formula :(The OLD lemon meringue formula was DELICIOUS -- it truly tasted like the cake part of a lemon square. I almost felt like I was cheating they were so delicious. The NEW formula is merely TOLERABLE. It's now very chewy and more tootsie-roll like, less cake-like. Five stars down to two stars. I no longer look forward to eating them like I used to. Even the smell is weird and artificial. Keep in mind that a bar with these ingredients and these macros are hard to find though, and still stand out in that respect. It's difficult to find a high-protein and low-carb bar that's gluten, whey and soy free.HOWEVER the macros aren't as good as they were. An added 30 calories per bar?! More fat, too. And doesn't taste as good. Sigh.Unfortunately, thinking they merely changed the packaging design and not the formula, I have two boxes of these sitting at home. I'm willing to try some of the other flavors to see if they've improved, maybe it's just the lemon meringue one that's gotten worse. I may start to hunt around for another brand of bars...

Very happy
I had been an avid No Cow Bar fan back in 2017. Then the formula changed and the taste and nutritional values changed so much, that the bars were no longer an option for me in my daily diet. I noticed recently that the nutrition information seems to have reverted back to much closer to what it was back in 2017. So I decided to try them again. I am glad I did. If you are looking for your ol’ standard No Cow bars from the past, then these are pretty nearly exactly the way they used to be. My favorite was and still is the lemon meringue. It’s a satisfying bar with good lemon flavor and a nice tart finish. I’ll be ordering more and trying other former favorites too. Thank you to the No Cow company for listening to us and changing the formula back!
