My Art Book to Colour: Mandalas

Nice
What I like is the paper quality is very thick, and I think there is a good variety of design of mandala, the pictures are on both sides of the paper, some like that some don't, I quite like the slightly unusual shape. What I am surprised at its the book says you can remove them to frame, there are no perforated lines for this and the book size is sort of unusual for finding a frame.

If you like colouring mandalas
If you like colouring mandalas, this book does have some nice designs, but the one thing I do not like about the book is that the design outlines are printed for the most part in heavy black ink, with some of the designs having large areas of black. Personally, I prefer more subtle, finer outlines so that the finished work is not dominated by black. My personal preference, but this spoils the book a little.

Superb Designs
This is a great book. With a mixture of complex and simple designs, three is something for everyone and every mood. It is of a hi quality and the paper is thick. This means there is no bleed through of colour. There are sufficient pictures that it will last some time. I would highly recommend this adult colouring book.

Fine but nothing special
I love adult colouring books which is a bit of a double-edged sword when it comes to reviews: I notice lots of details that a connoisseur might not, but I'm also very particular about my preferences. Accordingly, this book falls pretty much middle of the road for me.The good things:*The designs are mostly nice ones*The paper is good quality*Most of the designs have a nice bold outline*There is some variety in styles so it's not too same-y*The slightly smaller-than A4 size makes it a bit more portable than the usual colouring books*The rounded corners are an attractive, if rather pointless, touchThe things I didn't like:*Many designs have lighter outlines and/or fiddly details (why do these two so often go together?)*The pages are printed on both sides - and felt pens WILL bleed through*Despite the back cover blurb suggesting you "Create a colouring book of original [sic] art then detach and display your beautiful mandalas" the pages are not in fact perforated or designed to be easily removed.*This is probably just me being fussy, but it really irritates me that this is called "Mandalas" when perhaps half of the patterns are not actually mandalas. Apparently the publishers have just used the term to mean any sort of vaguely South Asian-style, mendhi-influenced design. Lazy.*This is not actually a bad colouring book, but for the price (£6.99 at time of writing) it's nothing special. There are so many different adult colouring books these days and they can often be found at remaindered book shops etc for half the price, so there's not really anything to set this one apart
