Professional quality at home. Impressed with this espresso machine
✅️ easy to use ✅️ doesnt take up too much counter space. ❌️ matte black is more a very very dark gray Im so happy I purchased this machine. ✅️ heavy/ nice weight to the portafilter handle/holder (i dislike how most at home machines portafilter handle feels like it will break. This handle "chefs kiss" feels sturdy and has nice weight to it (like a high end professional one) ✅️ comes with different filters so you get to choose what works best for you. My favorite is the single wall double (it comes with 4 total 2 double walled (used more for pre ground beans, this is what most if not all at home espresso machines come with sizes are single (shot) and double (shot) and single walled (used more for fresh ground coffee also a single shot and double shot ... this does not normally come with at home espresso machines these are my favorite and i feel give a much better coffee house experience at home) This machine is sturdy and weighted nicely so its easy to move around and out of the way. ✅️ programmable buttons (you can set water temp and also program the machine to dispense exactly the perfect amount of espresso (manual tells you how to do this) Manual is very clear and concise. I always read it front to back before even turning the machine on. I set the water temp to the hottest it allows (has low, medium, and high) and it gives me espresso exactly how I like it, with the right fine ground beans you get a really nice creme foam bit on the head. Hemmed and hawwed because of the price thinking it seemed expensive for a home machine but it was worth every penny I paid. I use this machine every morning and I feel kitchenaid got the home machine down perfectly. You get the feel of a professional coffee house espresso machine with the compactness of the home machine. I love love love being able to make my iced espresso drinks at home in comfort. Its consistently always the same no surprises, no burnt tastes. Just pure at home espresso. ✅️ tamper is solid and heavy. A true professional style tamper. It wont break on you and you can easily get the perfect tamping pressure you need/want with absolute ease. Water tank is easy to fill just pop it off, fill and slide back into place. The water tank is decent build quality I'd advise dropping it though as its just plastic but does look nice (I use R.O. water in mine which makes me not have to clean it as often of build-up) speaking if which, the auto clean function is nice although it takes approx 15 minutes and once started can not be stopped and you have to stay next to the machine to go to the next step (all in the manual) All in all I love this machine. Couldn't be happier and so glad I spent the extra dollars for this machine rather then buying another "good enough" machine that will break in a year. Uploaded a video - seems loud but its not as loud in person. Ive used the machine while my bf is in zoom meetings and he says he cant even hear it. (Kitchen is very close to where his office set up with with no doors to block the noise) You will always have to put up with some noise with at home espresso machines because of the pump. Theres no escaping it.

Excellent buy for the cost and if you want to get into espresso!
I would not classify myself as a barista by any means, but this thing sure makes me feel like I'm one. My parents have a large espresso machine, and it seemed very complicated and took up a lot of space. So I wanted to go with a more compact one, but still get that fun feeling of making a special coffee drink. This is the perfect option if you are looking to do just that! You don't have to be a coffee wizard, but it does give that feel that you are a barista and can make much fancier coffee drinks than a regular coffee pot would allow. Not to mention, you don't have to drain your pockets to get a fancier coffee. This has been a huge game-changer for my espresso martini :). We even had friends register for it for their wedding once they saw ours. MUST BUY.

Great first espresso machine
If you are looking to begin making your favorite Starbucks coffee at home for cheaper, this is an amazing starter espresso machine! It will pay for itself. It does take time to dial it in to pull shots correctly, but worth the effort. It is kind of loud, especially when beginning to pull the shots. Milk steam wand works perfectly, however it does have limited mobility. I think this is perfect for someone just starting out making espresso at home, or is looking for a great budget-friendly option.

Very poor reliability.
Dont waste your time or money on this machine. I was happy with this product, until 5 months in and it began malfunctioning and would not work at all. The lights would blink, and it would not work. I tried all the trouble shooting methods listed on the Kitchen Aid website, and the manual. Which included powering off for periods of time, restarting, descaling and cleaning and others to no avail. I contacted Kitchen Aid through Amazon to see what could be done to repair and they scheduled me with a provider to repair the machine, Guinco. I was contacted by them and gave them the information and that the product (purchased on July 31, 2025) was not under warranty and the service fee for them to look at it is $145. I am going to cut my losses and replace the machine with a more reliable brand.

Makes a good cup of coffee... but!
This unit works well and makes a great cup of coffee easily. The controls are easy to use and get used to. There are two thing I do not like about it though. 1. The lid covering the water tank is real fussy to put on. You have to have it in exactly the right spot to lower in-place. The gripping surface provided to grasp it with your finger and thumb is too short. It needs to be taller or have a knob. I actually dropped it in the tank one day while fidgeting with it. 2. I like to make an Americano. This requires more than a double shot of Espresso. The manual says you can reprogram either button 1 or 2 to serve more volume by entering a programming mode. In this mode I held down the 2 button while it fills my container. When it reaches the desired fill, you are supposed to let go of the button, and now you will get that same volume every time you press that button. Unfortunately, The unit stopped filling before I could get to the volume I wanted. I've emailed Kitchenaid. I'll update this review after their response.

Saves me money every day.
I was buying lattes 3 times a week and with this awesome machine I may never go back to the coffee shop again. It’s easy to attach the coffee shot tool. I tried several of the strainers and for some reason only one of them gives me the riche crème but that’s okay because the one that works is enough. Clean up is fast and the automatic clean process is simple you just need to have something to catch the water from the coffee dispenser and the steamer. The shots are strong enough for me and they pull fast. The tamper is heavy yet manageable so I get good shots every time. The only piece that I was unsure about was the shot puller. It has a plastic dispenser nozzle. I’ve only used all metal ones before and I wasn’t sure about it. But, so far, it’s been working very well and I’ve made about 100 lattes without issue. I would buy this product again and I recommend it for anyone.

Things to know after 1+ year ownership
Update: It seems that my machine may be on its last legs. It no longer pre infuses properly and every espresso shot tastes burnt. This seemed to happen over night. I am super bummed. Honest review. I’ve had this machine over a year so far. I use it almost everyday for drinking espresso. This is my second espresso machine. I had a cheap delonghi machine before this one. Here are the pros: Consistent, never had an issue for Can pull great espresso Hot water option is useful Good tamper Cons: Vibrates like crazy so everything you put on top moves around. Wastes a lot of water when steaming and pulling shot Steam wand is weak, you will not get perfectly textured milk easily Portafilter has a black spout on the inside where espresso will build up (disgusting) For the price you really can’t beat the espresso quality. Would have definitely paid more elsewhere if I knew the steam wand would be this bad.

Love it
I've had this machine for about a month now and I love it. I thought it would be difficult to dial in my espresso, and it kinda was sometimes, but it was still very fun and rewarding. The manuals are very helpful, and the machine is so easily learned. Initially I was sort of torn by the fact that this has a plastic housing, but it does not feel cheap. It matches my matte black KitchenAid mixer, and looks cute without any help. I've been practicing my latte art on my cappuccino every morning and I love it. In fact, last weekend I went to a coffee shop for the first time in months to order a cappuccino and compare it to what I make at home - I prefer homemade! So happy with this machine, especially for the price range that you see out there, I think it works well, looks stylish and hopefully will keep working well for a long time.

Makes great espresso
Love this little inexpensive espresso machine. Very impressed. Matches my black kitchenaide mixer (although I wish the body was made out of heavy metal instead of plastic).
