VIZIO XRU100 Home Theater Remote Review: No programming is needed because it's pre-programmed to work with Vizio equipment, though it is a universal remote without keyboard and can be used with various brands of equipment. It's slender compared with the remote that came with our 55" VIZIO TV, which has a slide out keyboard under it. The only disadvantage is that it uses a 2032 button lithium battery which, if you get it at the local Walmart is a tad expensive ($4)compared to the usual AAA batteries. But, the 2032 is lithium and likely to last a long time, given the intermittent nature of a remote's use. Edit of Sept 22, 2012--Had to replace batteries after five months.The remote with keyboard that came with our TV is great for rapidly entering data for streaming movies and the like, but mostly we use the original remote for changing channels. The under-remote keyboard frequently slides out a bit as one handles the remote. This not an earth shattering annoyance, but it is a bother nevertheless. I also read a few negative reviews that indicated that the slide out keyboard remote breaks down easily. Thus, when I came upon this remote on Amazon, it seemed a good idea to get it as a backup, which would reduce the use of the original and perhaps stave off any breakdown.This slender remote has served well as a backup, with no problems. We've discovered extra benefits, also. With two remotes in the room, the problem of trying to find a temporarily missing remote because the previous user failed to put it in our "standard place" is minimized. The extra remote also ends dominance of he who gets to the remote first, promoting more reasonable discourse. And now, at last, I can scan other channels during ads despite my wife's protests that she doesn't want to miss anything when the ads are over!

This remote worked right out of the box after 2 AAA batteries. I bought one from Best Buy for $34.99 plus tax! I read all the reviews and bought the remote that worked out of the box.

I am very satisfied with the Remote. I didnt even have to program. Lol, a bonus nowadays.

I am not one that normally makes product reviews however, this remote did come with some cosmetic damaged. Not worth returning since it does work,, but definitely annoying.
