I love this book
I love this book. It ties together some fascinating facts on ancient cultures, the stars, and our relentless universal search for who we are and why we are here. It is full of new and fresh faces from the past. I am actually a strong Christian but I found many things in this book that helped me understand the cultures behind my faith a little better ( this is not a Christian theology book). This book presents a clear-eyed, scientific, and FUN look at what our ancestors believed and why they believed it. I will never look at the night sky the same way again. It will also give you a great appreciation for the people came before us.

From the Heavens to the Earth
I found this to an very interesting and engaging introduction to the results of the scientific work in archeoastronomy. Organized by topic rather than culture, Krupp surveys relationship between astronomical observation and cultural narrative in a dizzying array of cultures and civilizations around the globe. Skillfully moving from the well known cultures of Egypt and Mesoamerica and structures such as the Great Pyramid and Stonehenge to lesser known peoples and places, the book pulls together the common threads of human celestial experience while also highlighting the unique aspects of each people. Highly recommended.

Nice buy..
I used to watch this guy's tv show back in the early 80's, the voice and music were very soothing and interesting, so is the book.

Fine.
It's fine. It's dated, though, and the black and white pictures limit comprehension somewhat. The chapters are manageably sized and broken up.

Outstanding
Very interesting information. Very readable. If you are curious about ancient people and their connection to the science of astronomy, this is a reliable and understandable read on the subject. Dr Krupp connect the dots and provodes a robust education on his subject.

Thoroughly Good Read; informative and accessible.
This book is required reading on a Masters' course on Ancient Religions, and one of the best academic reads I have had in a long time. Written long enough ago that the theories and ideas were fresh and new, and came across that way, it is an accessible and enthralling read. The most challenging concepts are explained clearly and coherently, and the scope of the book takes in a range of ancient civilisations.
