helped decrease the summer temperature of an uninsulated garage
I applied ~ 200 linear ft. of this thermal barrier to my un-insulated garage between summer 2000 and summer 2001. It has helped decrease the heat gain and allowed me to work in the garage much more.First--this is really a thin thermal barrier and not insulation in the conventional sense. Reflective side out reflects the sunlight/heat and prevents heating the garage. (it also means that the garage is colder in the winter--doesn't gain heat-- unlike real insulation which would help keep the heat in in the winter)--not a problem where I live.having said that applying to the inside of the garage door with double sided tape--something you couldn't do with real insulation--, plus stapling between exposed studs, plus creating a roll-up "drape" between half of the garage has made the garage noticeably cooler in the summer. Before applying this reflective barrier, even with a portable air conditioner, if the outside temperature was above 85 degrees, inside the garage was unbearable. After applying this reflective barrier, WITH the portable air conditioner, the garage temp is below 80 degrees even when it's up to 100 degrees outside.

Pretty impressive given the thickness
Right off the bat I’ll say that if you order too much, you’ll get hit with a restocking fee to return unused rolls. Just be aware. The insulation itself is quite good considering how thin it is. I placed it in the roof (aluminum side facing up) and saw a solid 15 degree F drop in temperature coming off the roof. That’s pretty good. Just be aware that because this is not a rigid product, you’ll have to find a way to install it properly. My recommendation is to roll it out and staple it to wooden studs.

False advertisement this product claims an R15 insulation facto but it’s no where to be seen
I don’t like false advertising, if you tell me something is an R factor 15 then it better be what you claim as far as I am concerned you wasted my time and my money and the local inspector needs to verify the R factor shame on you for your false advertising

Game changer by using under flooring with crawl space
Needed to replace fiberglass insulation due to vermin damage that occured over past 30 years . Rats were making nests in the fiberglass and the smell of their urine could be detected through flooring. Vermin exterminated but noted the severe and extensive damage. Did not want to give them incentive to return . This product a heived my goal and then some. I doubled it up to meet P23 standard and the house is better insulated than it was when new 30 years ago. Easily installed with Arrow staple gun and no issues with fiberglass in arms ,face or body! Great choice!!!

Good thickness, easy to install
The 5mm thickness of the foam layer of this insulation provides thermal protection. The foil side serves as an effective radiant barrier. Seems well made and durable. I researched and compared numerous similar radiant barrier products and finally decided on this one since it’s thicker and better made than most.
