I was looking for licorice pieces that were not hard candy and not soft and gooey-chewy, but rather harder and more difficult to chew, kind of like a harder taffy like a Sugar Daddy. I was actually looking for a semi-hard licorice that I used to get at the movies as a child. I haven't found it yet, but the cats are pretty darn close. And the flavor is better. The only problem is that once I get started, it's very hard to stop, and my only choice was to buy two packages. Once I opened a package, it was gone in a day and a half.

These are just right. Not too soft, not too hard. Nice and chewy. Not overly sweet. I love them so much but so do my children so sometimes I hide a pack for myself so they are there when I want them. :)

I was hoping these were like Scotty dogs.These are chewier than the typical black Licorice .They tasted a little sweet & saltly like typical black Licorice. I liked them and I got the three bag set for around 6.00

The product tasted old. The initial flavor reminded me of a candy that was found at the bottom of my purse. Once over the initial “old” flavor the candy was quite nice.

We send this as a gift to friends and family. Everyone loves it. Product arrives on time and is always fresh and delicious. We used to have friends from Amsterdam bring it to us when they visited. It's great having it available on Amazon now. Best traditional black licorice in the world!

No where on the ingredients or on the ad does it say there's gluten 😡 This is extremely important missing information for people like me who get sick from gluten.

They say firm more like almost solid. The taste is mild and hard to chew. After eating half a bag one of my front teeth got damaged from it buy popping out a front tooth filling. When the order arrived I checked it and found they were very hard. I tried to return it because of that but they would not let me. I should have thrown them out right away. But oh no I decided to eat them. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Well, they are in the trash now. Tell Amazon who is going to pay for the dental bill? That's the last time I order anything like that from Amazon.

Made in The Netherlands, these kittens are firm, sweet, and posess a strong licorice flavour. They are not like the artifical twists that you can buy!

These are a little on the sweet side for my tastes, but they still hit the spot. They would also be a good entry level Dutch licorice if you're used to Twizzlers, as they're not too salty compared to most.

I didn’t realize these didn’t taste salty so a bit disappointed but as a sweet candy they are good.
