Overpriced for small quantity and damaged goods
The pictures say it all! I paid nearly $20 CAD for these grayscale soft pastels and was surprised at how small the pack is! I know it’s only a 12 pack but I thought each pastel stick would be larger, but no, they are about the standard medium size, therefore over priced. Also, one would think that because they are only grayscale; ranging from black to white that they would be cost less than a full colour range pack, but no, therefore they are overpriced.I could have bought far cheaper higher quantity soft pastel product online or even locally but I only need the greyscale shades so I settled for this. Sadly they are overpriced and to add insult to injury, more than half the pastels are broken…!Some key features, besides being overpriced and broken, is that there is only one (1) white pastel and the rest are three (3) light grey, four (4) dark grey, and four (4) black (charcoal)I definitely wouldn’t buy these again and would only recommend them if the price dropped and you’re desperate for greyscale soft pastels.I only rated them 2 because even though they are overpriced and broken they are what I needed for my project.

Exactly as described
These are quite soft, but they are easy to work with and give a decent range of gray shades.

Not worth it, not as described!
Not graduated greys. Its a black, med grey and light grey nothing in-between and very cheaply made. Very very brittle and light weight. Not worth the money.

Not the range of values described. Otherwise a good choice.
The set I received has one white, three medium light gray, four medium dark gray, and four almost black sticks. If you are expecting "two each of Gray, Dark Gray, Medium Gray, Light Gray, and Very Light Gray, plus one Black and one White," you, like me, may be disappointed. It's possible that the product was changed but the description wasn't. I did test these pastels on white paper to make sure that I received only the four values rather than seven. They are as soft as they should be to be called soft pastels and will work well for value studies and monochromatic grey paintings.
