In awe of images trapped in film for over 50 years!!
This book screams dedication and commitment on behalf of the author. A labour of love in every detail from the exquisite collect of imagery, some of which will be vaguely familiar to others I've never seen before. The overall quality of the materials and sheer heft of this book are second to none. The author has taken the time to curate and remaster such stunning images of Apollo. Even as a collector of books and artifacts, I'm still in awe of this book. When I pre-order I had no idea what to expect, then today this large heavy Amazon package arrived and inside was Apollo Remastered. As I thumbed through the initial pages I had a sense of guilt that the sheer act of opening the book was ruining the pristine presentation. Once you hold this book in your hands, it will become a must-have purchase at any price. It's also a must for that space enthusiast in your life. But even if you are not an amateur Apollo historian, or budding astronaut, the sheer clarity of the imagery will enthrall any reader. To top it all off, the closing chapters of the book explore the history of the Apollo era imager, along with the work & techniques that went into remastering these old photographs. Explore the detail preserved in film for over 50 years which has never been seen in printed photos before, to the seamless composite image of Fred Haise asleep in the crippled Apollo 13.I highly recommend discovering the wonder of these stunning images, in this impressive format for yourself.

Seeing Apollo in a new light
I've been aware of Andy Saunders' work in restoring the images of the Apollo Program for a number of years and have been looking forward to the release of this book since it was announced. The result does not disappoint. Quite simply, this is the best photographic record of the program.Given access to the original negatives by NASA, Andy has created a collection of images and restored them using modern digital techniques so that hitherto unseen details become immediately apparent, such as Aldrin's grin of delight through the gold visor of his helmet, the tears of joy in Armstrong's eyes after returning to the Lunar Module, and the rapt concentration of McDivitt on Apollo 9... The last of these is the cover photo for the book and the original is so underexposed that most people just glance at it and then pass on by. Not a chance of that with this restoration. Each image is presented with a description detailing where it was taken, what the astronauts were saying and doing at the time, and the technical details behind its restoration. Added to which, there's a section later in the book devoted to the equipment that was used to take the photos and the processes that Andy used to bring those details out of the raw material.I buy a lot of Apollo and other space-related books. This has immediately jumped to my #1 slot. If I had to get rid of my book collection, this would be the one that I would keep.[Additional: My copy arrived in the same manner that other reviewers report, although mine was (thankfully) undamaged. My review is about the product, not the packaging - Amazon, this is a premium product and should be treated accordingly - sort it out!]

Outstanding Book
I’ve been waiting for this book to be published for months and now that it has arrived it doesn’t disappoint. It is outstanding in both the materials that went into making the book and its content. The paper used is heavy weight and smooth with no bleed through either side of the page. The printing is wonderful. The layout of the interior is both logical and unfussy, with nothing to distract from the images. The wordage that goes with each image is succinct and to the point. The excitement I felt as I turned each page was something else because I’ve never seen some of those images as crisp and clear before. In fact there are some images that I’ve never seen before. This book has been a labour of love for Andy Saunders and it certainly shows. Well worth every penny.I have also purchased the ebook because, as an aerospace and astronomy artist, I wanted to be able to look at the images as closely as possible without stressing about damaging the physical book. I have to say the ebook does not disappoint either. The images appear on each page as a thumb-nail, which can be initially disappointing, but then you can zoom in and around the images to your hearts’ content. That’s an edge over the physical book that I hadn’t anticipated. What an outstanding book! Don’t think twice about buying it.

Absolutely beautiful book
I had a large soft back book on the Apollo missions when I was a kid and lost it along the way. So this 'tome' was a wonderful replacement. It's extraordinary in its quality and depth. The introduction gives a sense of human scale to the amount of effort that culminated in landing on the moon but also the speed of innovation - quite amazing and worth reading before looking at any images... it makes them seem even more extraordinary. Obviously a helluva lot of work has gone into the research and the images are simply stunning. It also made me think, how on earth (or moon!) did they actually do all this without the tech we take for granted now. Well worth the money - buy it and keep it forever
