Old kit. Could be fun to improve design
I like the concept, but I noticed thatScrews are too short.Batteries corroded.Adhesive not sticky enough.Anyway, this may be why it was on sale so no biggie.I am going to have kids make geodesic domes or possibly a sphere (using triangles) so kids can poke holes in them and display specific constellations. The lamp base is really cool. I think it would be rather simple, to design new star domes to go with it.Since I am planning on using this to teach design thr shortcomings are fine, but I don't recommend as a gift unless you want the kid's parent to hate you!

Dont buy
Your money is better spent elsewhere. Cardboard assembly wasn't great. Doesnt light on the ceiling like you are expecting.

Disappointing gift
If you are looking for a good quality educational gift this is not the one. The photo makes it look like it is, at the very least, molded plastic. It is in reality just heavy paper and is put together with tape. The paper does not stay together even with extra tape and light shines through all the cracks. I used my flat iron to curve the paper a little to make it rounder. The push pin provided to make the holes in the paper for the light to shine through makes such tiny holes there is no way this could project onto walls or ceiling. Overall a very big disappointment.
