Mimic: The Director's Cut [Blu-ray] [2021] [Region A & B & C]

Brilliant movie old but good

The BluRay is good quality - Ratio Bars top and bottom, good picture (a lot of the film is set in semi darkness), sound and optional subtitles, with extras - commentaries and featurettes, not seen by me. Only 3 stars - I don't know, I just couldn't get into it. It starts with the most annoying opening credits - all flashing and nearly impossible to read - headache time!. Somehow the plot felt forced and, for me, a bit hard to follow. It wasn't helped by what I felt were very bland performences from the two leads. Luckily Josh Brolin and Charles Dutton mostly saved the day and the film does move at a fair old pace. I wish sometimes I could explain my feelings in a concise manner, but sometimes I just have to say...On the night, this did not impress me. Good price and some good monster effects, so, if in doubt, worth a go!

Been looking for this one for a while

Started off quite well a plague killing thousands of people, cue pretty bug expert who saves the day. Three years later some unexplained deaths happen all in very gloomy sets so you can't really see what is going on. A super bug is on the loose in the sewers its all very predictable and you know how its going to end , you can hardly make out this bug as its always so dark. Has been done far better with Alien, The Thing, The Fly etc.

Mimic is pretty well made with rather bland performances. That said it holds an eerie feel and the practical effects are more than decent. Watch it if you get the opportunity, but there's ni need to hunt for this one.

This is a pretty poor B-movie that I can say is watchable thanks to Mira Sorvino

Damn the Weinstein's for ruining this beautiful film.
