The Microbiome Cookbook: 150 Delicious Recipes to Nourish your Microbiome and Restore your Gut Health

OMG... Nutritional Medicine experts should promote this book for us beginners!!
The information out there about nutritional medicine is both fascinating and empowering, but also it's truly overwhelming. We have much more power to be uber-healthy by our diets than we ever knew before. Unwinding it all is exhausting.Thinking we're healthy enough because we don't have symptoms even when we don't eat healthy enough. That just means the symptoms are building up until we're in a crisis, either mentally, physically or both. I thought I was healthy enough, and now I know I have severe ADHD, MTHFR homozygous mutation in my DNA, COMT heterozygous mutation... that has affected the ability of my body to process unhealthy foods and synthetic B vitamins, which I now know are SUPER IMPORTANT in good mental and physical health. Literally my allergies (starting when I was 25) that have added one more item to my list as time went on... disappeared within a week! Whaaaaaa??? Yup. From taking a daytime allergy pill at least once a day AND a benedryl every night for the last 10 years and 3 ibuprophen (200mg ea), to now my pills are lonely sitting in the cupboard. I never thought that would happen. So I'm buried in massive amounts of information. But what is right for me, specifically? Actually, the information boils down to stuff we all should be doing: eating better and sourcing methylated B vitamin (high-dose to pick up where my body dropped the ball) supplements into my diet. That's it! BUT WAIT, how much damage has been done? Do I need to detox? I'd prefer to figure this out without the expense of doctors. And yet, a psychiatrist ordered the DNA test. She put the power back in my hands with the information I learned. She can prescribe drugs based on my DNA (and there's many drugs on there prescribed in my past that I never should have had...who knew!?) and I can work on my diet. I also recommend YOUTUBE to learn about nutritional medicine and MTHFR/ADHD latest info. I recommend Mark Hyman, Ben Lynch, Rhonda Patrick, etc. Russell Barkley has excellent info that is how I learned exactly what ADHD is doing. I didn't need to get better at focusing after all. My motivation (dopamine) is hampered to a huge degree, and I need to fix that first. So where to easily digest and follow a protocol that is based on all the information I've devoured these last few months? I decided to get Mark Hyman's book (UltraMind Solution), and this one. Mark's will help me understand better in depth, BUT this book is the best to break down and SEE the information in a way that's simple, accurate based on everything I've been reading, super helpful, easy to understand, and helps separate out all the categories with the least amount of information in print. THANK YOU! I can research more, but Pamela Ellgen made it easy to understand how the nutrition works in a way that is calming, and she gleaned AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS recipes that not only are healthy, but by reading the ingredients, you just know eating healthy is way more delicious than you could have suspected. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Exactly what I needed. My brain was exhausted trying to break this information down in a way I could get on board today. This book solved the problem!!

This book is AMAZING. I've gotten real into eating and my body ...
This book is AMAZING. I've gotten real into eating and my body since learning more about metabolic profiling and my body. This book has amazing recipes to truly help restore my bodys natural being. The recipes provided have thus far been delicious and easy to follow. A lot of cookbooks over complicate things but this one truly simplifies things so that it's easy to digest but also easy to execute. Tehre is nothing worse then buying a book only to open it and realize it's not very helpful and you get lost in the little things. This recipe book is great - only thing missing is beautiful visual photos but we can't always get everything in one place ;) I love the brief introductions about food for your microbiome and what it means. Those knowledge packed but brief intros gives you the why to accompany the how. It was really helpful to know why these things make an impact - for me, it was more motivating to use the recipes since that's been answered. So far my favorite recipe has been the miso-glazed salmon - it's SO delicious. Even my boyfriend will eat it, now that's a winner!

Full of great recipes
Since finding out my mother was diagnosed with intestinal cancer, I've been looking into diets for her, even more than before. The Microbiome Cookbook breaks down the best ways to take care of your gut, as well as great recipes that can be used by those who need to heal as well as those who are using the recipes for preventative measures. This will be me.As a person with not a lot of time on her hands, I need recipes that aren't labor intensive. There are a lot of recipes in this book that only take between 10 and 30 minutes to prepare. Some recipes that really peaked my interest: Creamed Broccoli, Quinoa and Avocado Salad, Indian Coconut Curry with Spinach and Sweet Potatoes, and the Cashew Chicken and Mango Stir-Fry.The whole third section of the book is dog-eared for me since all the recipes are centered around gut-healing. Everything, and I mean everything looks like it'll taste amazing! And what makes it even better is that I won't need to do double-duty in the kitchen. All these recipes will work for my mom, the notoriously picky eater and I'll just make sure to make more for myself! I'll have to check if the author, Pamela Ellgen has any more cookbooks. If they are anything like this one, I'll definitely have to add them to my bookshelf.

Buy A Better Quality Book on the Same Topic
This book was not what I thought that it would be. The recipes were uninspiring and lacked the quality that Dr. Steven R. Gundry, MD, had in the recipe section of his book, "The Plant Paradox". I would recommend buying that book, instead.

This book has good sounding recipes
This book has good sounding recipes. I have tried several and liked them. I give the book three stars because the author provides no nutritional information nor portion size. Also, regrettably, the book does not have an index.

Awesome Cookbook for an Effective Diet
I've been looking into this new, to me at least, diet, and this recipe book has been a great addition to my collection! Previously, I have tried the paleo diet, ketogenic diet, etc., and now the diet to improve gut health. These are the reasons I would recommend this book.1. Great layout. The book is clearly divided into three sections (introduction, recipes for gut health, and repair recipes), and each on is clear and easy to follow..2. Good, concise information. The introduction supplies the most important information on the microbiome diet, and doesn't go overboard. It is a recipe book after all, and there are lots of other resources out there.3. Delicious recipes! The most important aspect of this book are the recipes. So far, they have all been really tasty and fairly easy to make. especially the Shrimp Scampi.

Good informatiom
I like the plain language. The recipes are very good and easy to make. I found it very effective. I am using it as a guide to help my digestive system. I have had since childhood digestive problems and bowel surgeries and things are settling down since I am using the recipes from this book.
