The doctor won't go down with the ship
Dr. Lucky moves around a sinking ship in a somewhat predictable pattern, while the players attempt to save him. The catch is that at least one other player must be able to witness your heroic deed. And of course everyone wants to be the hero, so all the other players want to save him before you do.There are 3 types of cards:-Equipment that you can offer the doctor to help save him (such as a warm blanket, a flare gun, or "shark spray").-Failure cards that other players will use to foil your attempts to save him. Some of the Failure cards are numbered, and the flavor text creates a logic puzzle (I think that's what it is) if you read them in order.-Room cards that can either move you or the doctor into a specific room, or use their printed value to move a certain number of rooms in any direction. The game board and the card deck are split into 4 sections. You always draw cards from the lowest section first, and when they're gone that part of the board sinks, moving any players on that board up to the next level of the ship. If nobody saves the Doctor before the uppermost deck sinks, then everyone loses. This has never happened when I've played. After about a half-dozen games it seems like someone usually saves him with only one or 2 of the decks gone. The colorful cardboard figures are thick and sturdy with plastic bases. The cards are average quality, non-textured. If you're looking for a fast-paced, humorous family strategy game that goes way beyond "Sorry" and plays in under an hour, this one definitely deserves to be on your table. The play mechanics are very similar to "Kill Doctor Lucky," but if the "killing" theme deters you from picking up that game, this one will not disappoint.

Not as fun as "Kill Doctor Lucky"
Maybe the publisher wanted to make a "children friendly" version of the "Kill Doctor Lucky" game, but I feel this version doesn't have the dark humor that makes "Kill Doctor Lucky" so fun to play. Otherwise it is as good as "Kill Doctor Lucky".

A lot of fun / all ages would like / neat twists that make it unique and a new game each time.
Great game for all ages. Ok, we're adult siblings who gather once a year to relive our childhood days by spending a long weekend playing boardgames and being silly. We pick our favorites and once they make the cut they are sure to come out the next year. This game is really fun! It has a lot of interesting elements to it that kept us wanting to play again and again throughout the game-playing marathon. I can see how this would be fun and easy to learn for all ages, it just happens that we're "big kids"! The fact that the board has removable levels that disappear as the boat sinks makes it unique. It has a slight Clue feel to it but with a couple of fun twists- like you have to have someone else's game piece "see" you (line of sight) save Doctor Lucky or it doesn't count- how fun!! Highly recommended.

THIS IS NOT THE GAME YOU THINK IT IS!!!!!!
Father's day gift from the wife and kids. Game play is tricky and seems finicky almost as if their is to much going on. We own kill doctor lucky and thought the familiarity with that would make this a breeze. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!! Buy the end of the game we were all wanting it to just end. Game drags and is confusing. My kids loved it but my wife and three friends all adults all hated it.

Great Variation on Kill Doctor Lucky
If you're a fan of Kill Doctor Lucky, this product may be for you. In this variation, the goal is to save Doctor Lucky while another player watches. As the game progresses, the ship sinks and pieces of the board are removed. This ensures that the game does not last too long. This is an extremely fun variation. Great for all members of the family. Probably best with 10 plus age group.

Not quite as good as Kill Doctor Lucky
Not quite as good as Kill Doctor Lucky, but still a great game! You don't get spite tokens in this one, instead all cards are discarded when you use them and the board is split into four parts. Throughout the game the board sinks and you can't use that section anymore. This leads to more save attempts and the game normally lasts about 30-45 minutes.

killing dr lucky is better and the cards actually make sense
killing dr lucky is better and the cards actually make sense, but this one has a similar play style and is a fun substitute in lue of the functionality of the cards
