Building a Masterpiece: Milwaukee Art Museum

This is a beautifully produced, large-format catalog. There is a chapter about the history of the museum (about 20 pages) and another about the Calatrava addition to the building (also about 20 pages). The remaining 200 or so pages cover highlights of the collection. Each piece highlighted includes a half-page color photograph and a half-page description.I purchased this book expecting the bulk of it to be about the building itself and the Calatrava addition, so I was surprised at the extent of the collection highlights. The chapter on the addition includes several color photographs of the Milwaukee addition, a couple of drawings, and many black and white images of Calatrava's other works. I am satisfied with that chapter, and the extensive catalog of artwork is truly beautiful.
