Informative and Inspiring
I’m certainly someone who believes they have a poor memory, but this book has given me the confidence that I can learn lines like my peers and will certainly be putting all the tools and advice noted to work out my own process.Another book I read on the subject was very convoluted and focused on relaxation, however I’ve found this book more helpful, concise and informative. It gives you simple tools you can use to help those words sink into the noggin. An enjoyable and engaging read overall.

Bite sized and useful
A great little book with handy hints and tips. A few methods I employ already and a few new ones to add to to toolbox.Without being full of the stereotypical snake-oil ‘positivity and mindfulness techniques’ the author gently encourages us that we CAN remember our lines if we… Well, read the book to find out!I’m definitely checking out other books in this series.JB x

Perfectly formed
A refreshingly concise and practical approach to line-learning. A great aid for any actor needing a confidence boost in this woefully unaddressed area of the acting craft. Genuinely helpful and much appreciated!

Helpful
This was short and concise with easy breakdowns to help with understanding what the author is conveying. I found this helpful in settling my fears and in how to move forward with learning monologues and dialogues.

Useful advice
Good advice here for the task. I would have liked more examples relating to scripts etc and to drama theory. The kindle version also has one sentence paragraphs which makes it difficult to read.

A book to buy
This book is very good for two fundamental reasons. Firstly, it gives us valuable tips to help us memorize our lines in plays much more effectively. Funnily enough, I already used many of these tips, but in a very intuitive way. Now I understand better why I do it and why it works. Secondly, because this book moves away from those countless books on memory that teach tricks for memorizing anything and everything except lines in a play. I've read several of those books. They're interesting, but not very useful for actors. This one is different. Although the author talks about memory palaces and the loci method, this is not at all the central aspect of the book. The other suggestions he gives us, such as chunking and the various strategies for transferring from short-term to long-term memory, are very useful and scientifically based. All in all, an excellent book that you can read in an afternoon and which gives you memory strategies for the rest of your life.

Short but sweet!
I am not an actor, but have other reasons to memorize material and found the author's descriptions and tips for memorization straightforward and easy to understand. She doesn't add a bunch of fluff, so it's a short book, a quick read, but not lacking in helpful information. Definitely recommend!

a concrete system and complete explanation of how to memorize
As a professional actor I have memorized thousands of pages in my career for television film theatre and auditions. I have worked in several languages. Memorization has always been a key part of the work and Alexa Ispas takes a look at the how to in her book. Many techniques that I have used and some that I have not are organized here in a clear and helpful way.I am asked often how do you memorize your material. This book is the answer.
