Good all rounder.
My item arrived promptly and well packaged with no concerns to bumps or knocks along the way, some minor disappointment at the amount of polystyrene used when this is not commonly recycled. The printer itself is beautiful to look at and compliments any office desk with its sleek design and pretty light above the print tray. Some apprehension upon finding no display on the printer although gives a simplistic appearance. The printer itself took me around 10 - 15 minutes to set up although bearing in mine I already had the HP app, HP account and instant ink set up so its fair to say a good 30 minutes or more for full set up if your a newbie. The set up process was simple and intuitive with the HP app guiding you the whole way. Once set up, check out the instant ink service which is prompted during set up, dependant on your printing needs this can save you money on ink and ensure out when you've left printing your boarding passes til the last minute. Personally could not fault the service, when my ink is low I receive replacements via post with a prepaid packet to send your old ones back in. The plans start from £1.99 a month for minimal usage. Also you can join HP+ giving you 6 months of instant ink for free, extra productivity features on the app, printer security and an extra year warranty. The printer itself is fairly responsive and I have only encountered minor print issues where connectivity drops although this was rare and may not exclusively be something to blame the printer for. The pages print fairly quickly for black/text documents, the quality was on par with my laser printer at work, I use HP Premium paper that can be purchased at most stationers. Photo printing is okay with the quality being average but not poor but this is dependant on paper used also. Disappointed with the lack of a screen and controls on the printer making some basic tasks feel a chore, having to use a phone to complete most things and touch buttons on the printer aren't clear to what they do with no labelling around them. PROS - Fair print time - Good at home/office quality documents - Beautiful design - Instant Ink/HP+/Extra warranty - Fairly Quiet - Wireless functions - WiFi, email docs to printer CONS - Photo printing average - No screen, limiting functionality without a phone - Not easy to shut down without disconnecting power, light stays beaming on. Great printer with room for improvement, would recommend highly to most people but probably not the grandparents.

Not a bad printer at all
It took me a while to connect, especially online. I'm not the most tech savvy person so I found it frustrating. I'm still not sure why it wouldn't work properly. That said, once it was done, I really enjoyed having it. The paper tray is underneath which I really liked. My old printer had to be loaded in at the top and if I was printing around my kids or storing it away, the paper would often get marked and folded over. Don't have this problem now. The connection to my printer is fast. As soon as I press the button, its loading and printing. My old printer took a good while to connect and then was slow to print. I've also tested out the copier and again, superfast. Clear print and no issues whatsoever. I have had one issue yet to figure out. I saw that I could print both sides of the paper buy when I select that option, it will not do it. I won't be beaten, I will figure it out, its just slightly annoying. I wish it was easier to figure out for those who just aren't good with technology. It doesn't stop me from reloading the paper I printed out and have it print on the back but still. My point remains. I've had a good few plays with it so far but had to minit my time due to my poorly baby. That being said, I feel like I've had a good play with it and it's met all my expectations. It's quick, it looks great, it doesn't take up much room in my home and doesn't look bulky. It's relatively easy to use once it's up and running. It came with a great deal to get ink refills, which the printer does all on its own when the ink gets low. That is a cool hack. My only downside so far is that when I print something out, the calibration is off and it doesn't look the same way as I see it on my phone. But that's most likely a phone problem than printer problem.

Does exactly what it says on the box!
All in One and One for all!2021-08-12 15:01:221 2 3 4 5Having just started our own consultancy business this was the perfect time to try a new printer. Lots of little printing projects have arisen and to be honest this little printer has proven to be a bit of a bargain so far. Arriving promptly unboxing was easy. Everything wrapped up well it was a bit like Christmas, peeling back the layers of bubble wrap and paper revealing a compact yet rather chunky piece of HP tecnology. Taking some of the little blue sticky tape off was a bit of a chore at times, finding the bit that lifted to get to the end but other than that, everything common sense really. Plugged in and ready to go we followed the instructions to fit the print cartridges and I have to admit I had a look online at an online video as I was unsure as to how to clip the cartridge in. On my machine the little clips seemed more flimsy and I was worried that the colour one in particular would snap, alas it didnt and watching online gave me more confidence that I was doing the right thing. The diagrams on the start up sheet make it look less fiddly than it was. Set up, plugged in.... cartridges ready next was to get it working. I downloaded the HP Smart App on my phone and it was set to go. Printing is seamless, you ask it to do the job and then immediately there it goes, printing away. I love the fact that you can choose to print anywhere, you can take a photo whilst out and then get home to find it waiting for you on the desk. I had some application forms to print for Uni which took no time at all but after 30 sheets or so said ink running low. I have previously had a DeskJet 2630 and used the Instant Ink Service before so it was no surprise that I soon received a message saying that new cartridges were in the post. I assume as its a new printer the first cartridges are always just a token gesture to get you going and hope that the refill cartridges last a few more sheets. So far our little machine has coped with letter writing, essay writing, application forms, photographs and the odd handprint (that's what having boys in the house is like!) It has'nt so far screeched to a halt every two pages demanding a paper refill or refused with blinking lights to log onto a wifi connection like the DeskJet..... touch wood this isn't just luck and it's how the printer is going to go on! Conclusion so far.... a nice little compact, easy to set up, easy to maintain cute little printer that is hopefully going to be reliable and effective in our home office!

A great all-rounder for a family, home office or small business
**If you use my code wf7q1y when you install, you will receive +3 more months free ink! Code can be used until end April 2023**(The option to add a code is under the area where you add your payment source in the HP smart app)I have used the 6420e before and am now buying it for the 2nd time. I am a teacher and print at high volume at home. This is the perfect printer for me - it has double sided, booklets, and borderless options. It also has a paper feeder so I can run documents through and it copies them. The printer can cope with card up to about 300gsm - I've included a sequencing activity photo which was printed on card - children's resources need to be durable and I find this printer can cope with what I need to do. Pencil and gluestick for scale. It fits very neatly in my home office space.I've given 4 stars as I sometimes have an issue with sending the odd document to print. More often than not it sorts itself out, sometimes by closing my laptop, but other than that I give it 5 stars.
