A really exciting tale of naval warfare
There are far too few books that feature the exploits of the Fleet Air Arm during World War Two. This is a really great read, exciting and emotional at the same time. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I give it a well deserved 5 stars.

A Story Within a Story
As ex-forces I am aware of military terminology. However some of the abbreviations were beyond me and detracted from this novel. Still a very good read.

Passed the time
Written with authority but little flair. It passed the time.

The Skills of the Fleet Air Arm
This is an excellent introduction to the skill and bravery of the Fleet Air Arm. The technology available to the aircraft and their pilots was limited but they still managed to achieve incredible results. The weaving of their exploits into this novel was extremely good and made the book a most enjoyable story.

Very British ! Not that there's anything wrong with that!
This book and story it contains reads just like watching it as a British 1950s B&W movie about the Fleet Air Arm in WWII. Predictable, maybe a little corny, yet entertaining. If you are interested it the topic and era, it's just what you need !

The story is not flowing nicely....
The story is not flowing nicely and the main character is left a bit shallow

Storia romanzata

interesting writing of a little known WW11 history
disliked the emphasis on the tribulations of a person rather than giving a deeper account of the Fleet Air arm actions. However well portrayed the difficulties of equipment/aircraft and poor generalship (political and Navy) while undertaking difficult assignments.

Good read
Lots of action, and a good accounting of what war is really like. Looking forward to the next in the series.
