Amazing book as all the books in the series until now

I have to say, I was worried about the book being transphobic given some of the negative attention Rowling has gotten recently. Was considering returning the book, but then I decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did. First of all, the book is not at all transphobic. I am all about being progressive, but let's not push it to unreasonable extremes! There's no allusion to trans people, indeed the character everyone referres to all the time was merely dressing as a woman. That aside, I loved the story, love the characters and utterly enjoyed reading Rowling's writing, there's something enchanting about it. The book was long, sure, but I enjoyed it, a shorter book would have meant parting with Robin and Strike earlier than I would have liked. The only bit I found annoying was all the astrological signs stuff, but you can skim it. It takes skill to write about murder and torture, and yet create an atmosphere of comfort and familarity. I just started a new and stressful job and was hoping that this book would get me through the first few weeks and it did! I can't wait for the next book and am glad I have something to look forward to. The book isn't a masterpiece in terms of plot, ideas or even writing. Yet anything Rowling has written, and I own allher book, brings me so much pleasure to read. Among all the mind challenging readings, the classics and the academic writing, there's a special place for books that bring you on an adventure, that conjure new friendships and leave your heart light and warm. Rowing has done it again.
